Walt Disney may be remembered as the visionary artist behind some of pop culture’s most beloved characters like Mickey Mouse and Disney princesses. But no amount of whitewashing by history can convince me he wasn’t responsible for ruining the lives and careers of people, including that of a Snow White voice actress, Adriana Caselotti, who now remains largely forgotten to time.

In a saga that is no less than tragic, Caselotti’s experience with Walt Disney in 1937 mirrors the same treatment that Rachel Zegler has been facing with the studio since the pre-production days of Snow White. Despite the two films being separated by a span of 88 years, the similarity in Hollywood’s harsh and exploitative attitude towards its stars still remains the same.
88 years later, history repeats itself once again with the legacy of Snow White once more at stake.

Disney has its fair share of charming and well-mannered princes that any person would want to bring home to meet their family. These princes are kind, curious, and have a strong character, which adds to their appeal. Between sequels and live-action remakes, Disney writers add more unique personality traits to their princes which make them green flags.
Officially, there are only eleven Disney princes and a few live-action counterparts, but this is a marketing decision that has more to do with selling products than storytelling or fairytale archetypes. For instance, Giselle is excluded from the princess lineup purely because Disney didn't want to pay Amy Adams for her image, while some deplorable characters like John Smith inexplicably remain as an official "prince." Fortunately, there are more princes in the lineup who are walking green flags, and the ideal partner for their Disney princesses.

Walt Disney Pictures didn't credit its voice actors in its early animated movies to preserve the magic and prevent the audience from associating the voices with real people. Adriana Caselotti, the voice of Snow White, was reportedly forbidden from revealing her role and struggled to find new acting opportunities afterward. The practice of not crediting voice actors ended in 1944 with the release of The Three Caballeros, and now Disney embraces casting well-known actors to voice its characters while still crediting them.
