The Disney Plus release of Star Wars: A New Hope allows fans to watch some rare deleted sequences, the most interesting of which is Luke Skywalker’s original introduction. It sees Luke witnessing the battle between Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer and Leia’s ship from Tatooine, before going to see his friends at Tosche Station. Though fans at last have easy access to this scene, Mark Hamill would have preferred it to have remained in the movie all along.

The sci-fi legend spoke to Anthony and Joe Russo, as part of their Russo Bros. Pizza Film School virtual interview series, and explained why he thinks this would’ve told the audience so much about Luke’s character had it been left in, from his social status to his lack of political leanings.

“There a couple of things that are good for the character,” said Hamill. “No. 1, he is ridiculed roundly by his peers.

Mark Hamill went from unknown actor to Sci-fi movie icon with the release of George Lucas's original Star Wars trilogy, where he played the role of a young hero Luke Skywalker. Hamill has always shown great dedication to the character of Luke, so much so that he recently revealed during an episode of the Russo Brothers' Pizza Film School series how much he regrets the fact that Luke's original introduction scene in A New Hope was cut, which prevented audiences from witnessing some crucial character-building moments.

"There are a couple of things that are good for the character [in the cut scene]. No. 1, he is ridiculed roundly by his peers. So he's not particularly cool or popular. While everyone is waiting with bated breath for the next look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a rare behind-the-scenes video from the original 1977 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope has surfaced online, and it shows a deleted scene coming to life on set. Though silent, this footage clearly features Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker working alongside director George Lucas, and we even get to see the infamous Biggs Darklighter.

The first half of the clip has George Lucas, then in his thirties, going over this much-talked about deleted scene with cinematographer Gilbert Taylor. The cut scene finds Luke Skywalker and Biggs Darklighter (played by Garrick Hagon) walking around the Tatooine settlement known as Anchorhead. Actress Koo Stark (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) is also seen in this footage.

As part of BFI's sci-fi festival "Days of Fear and Wonder", this exhibition of rare behind-the-scenes snaps from Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope are on display at the Atrium of the British Film Institute's Southbank location, and will be running through Jan. 4. The photos are from the personal collection of the continuity supervisor on the film, Ann Skinner. As you can see theer are some very nice shots, including actors David Prowse and Paul Blake (as Darth Vader and Greedo repetitively) without their masks. There's also pics of Anthony Forrest as Laze Loneozner, Koo Stark as Camie, and Garrick Hagon as Biggs Darklighter from the deleted Toshe Station scene.

The 56-year-old actress has been summoned to appear at Hammersmith Magistrates' Court under her real name of Kathleen Stark on Friday (October 5). Sienna Miller has accepted £100,000 compensation from the News of the World after it accepted unconditional liability for her phone-hacking claims.

The unexpected agreement came midway through a high court battle with the paper. The actor is the first celebrity to settle a claim since the tabloid, part of Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers (Ngn), last month admitted hacking the phones of several public figures. The settlement is the highest privacy award to date; Ngn will also pay Miller's legal costs.

Michael Silverleaf QC, Ngn's barrister, had previously claimed Miller's case could result in £400,000 in damages. He told the court this would be a "ludicrous" sum.
