Netflix’s limited series Adolescence scored 13 Emmy nominations Tuesday morning, beating the 11 earned by last year’s Baby Reindeer, and in a conversation with Deadline shortly after the announcement, co-creator, lead actor and executive producer Stephen Graham and co-creator and EP Jack Thorne discussed the likelihood of returning to the show in some way.
“We’d think about it, wouldn’t we, Jack?” Graham said.
“Yes,” Thorne replied. “Not about the Millers. We’ve told the Millers’ story, but me and Steve would love to write together again. We’d love to write something for Phil to direct and we’d love to work with all our wonderful company again. So, what I mean there is definitely the intention to do that if we can find the story good enough.”

Paul McCartney’s Got Back Tour is returning to North America this fall, the Beatles legend announced on Thursday, marking McCartney’s first North American tour since 2022.
The 19-date tour will start at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert September 29, his first time playing the venue, and it will finish with two nights in Chicago at the United Center on November 24 and 25. McCartney’s Got Back Tour had first come to North America three years ago and was the tenth-biggest tour of 2022, according to Pollstar. The tour’s most recent run finished at the O2 Arena in London at the end of last year. McCartney had reunited with Ringo Starr at that show, with the last two living Beatles playing songs including “Helter Skelter” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
It’s fantastic, playing with me old mate, but there comes a time when we’ve got to go home.

"There's been a change in England and we are part of the change." Greenwich Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for a music documentary film called AngelHeaded Hipster, also a reference to the poem "Howl" by Allen Ginsberg. "Angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night..." The film first premiered back in 2022 and never opened in the US - it's only now finally hitting theaters three years later. The film is inspired by the complex and revolutionary music and lyrics of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, the glam rock powerhouse behind "Bang a Gong (Get it On)" and other iconic songs. Featuring archival performances and interviews with Elton John, Ringo Starr, and David Bowie, plus filmed musical interpretations by artists such as Nick Cave, John Cameron Mitchell, Joan Jett, Macy Gray, U2, and Father John Misty. Goodbyes are bittersweet, but they don’t all have to be permanent, at least not as far as Dolly Parton is concerned. In an exclusive video for Rolling Stone, the country star shared a heartfelt send-off to Ozzy Osbourne, who performed his final concert of Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning farewell performance run this past weekend. Parton’s video message played on screens in between sets at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.

For years, there have been cries for a thorough, big-budget biopic centered on music's most famous quartet: The Beatles. Now, not only are we getting one, but we're getting four, with director Sam Mendes bringing the personal and professional lives of John, Paul, George, and Ringo to the big screen in a cinematic event truly like no other. As the director told a packed audience at the CinemaCon market event earlier this year, "We need big cinematic events to get people out of the house."
Currently, Harris Dickinson is set to appear as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and, finally, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, with the trio of Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Adolescence's Jack Thorne penning each script. However, it seems as if the trio have had help piecing together the story from one of the two remaining members of the Fab Four.

With theaters preparing for a British Invasion ahead of the upcoming Beatles cinematic event in 2028, Ringo Starr is making sure the movies get it right.
After flying to London in April to meet with director Sam Mendes, the Beatles drummer revealed he had issues with how his first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett was depicted in the script for the upcoming four-part biopic about the legendary British rock band, which is penned by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne.
“He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” Starr explained to The New York Times. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.'”
Starr is now pleased with his depiction in the script, but he remains skeptical of how Mendes will shoot four films at a time.

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr recalls sharing some notes with Sam Mendes for his biopic on the musician.
According to a new interview with the New York Times, Starr and Mendes spent “two days” going over the script “line by line” and Starr “offered extensive notes” in order to make the film more accurate to his personal life and experiences.
“He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen [his first wife] and I,” Starr told the publication. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’”
However, after they went over revisions, Starr felt content with the script. “He’ll do what he’s doing,” he said, before adding, “and I’ll send him peace and love.”

Marge Simpson lies in a coffin, or rather, she briefly did in the Season 36 finale of The Simpsons. That proved to be enough to pull the show back into the spotlight. What seemed like the end for the blue-haired matriarch turned out to be part of yet another bizarre future fantasy, something fans of the long-running animated series have come to expect. However, that didn’t stop the internet from lighting up and sending the show surging to No. 6 on Disney+ charts as of July 4, 2025, per Flixpatrol.

Don’t worry, Beatles fan: Ringo Starr is involved in that upcoming four-part Beatles biopic. The iconic drummer recently told The New York Times that he met with director Sam Mendes to go through one of the scripts line-by-line. The duo collaborated together for two days in April 2025.
While Starr did not cite which out of the assumed four scripts he reviewed, Jez Butterworth (“Ford v Ferrari”), Peter Straughan (“Conclave”) and Jack Thorne (“Adolescence”) are all announced as writing the screenplays.
Starr said he gave “extensive notes” to director Mendes while fact-checking the scripts. The scenes in particular that depicted Starr’s family and his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett (whose casting has not yet been announced), were among the sequences that Starr urged to have reworked.

The Simpsonsis climbing to the top of the streaming charts for a controversial reason. After Season 36's surprising death, audiences are flocking to the animated series again.
Per FlixPatrol, The Simpsons has risen to the No. 6 spot on the Disney+ TV series chart for July 2, 2025. The long-running animated sitcom is in the midst of another meteoric rise following the release of its Season 36 finale "Estranger Things," which included the shocking -- but just temporary -- demise of family matriarch Marge Simpson.
The episode focused on the potential fallout of Marge's decision to buy Itchy & Scratchy-themed baby toys for Maggie, which in turn caused Bart and Lisa to give up on their favorite show. This prompted Marge to worry about whether her two older children might drift apart after losing one of their few shared interests.
A vision of the future was shown in which that fear came to fruition before Marge passed away.

A Quadruple Feature On February 20, 2024, Sony Pictures released the news that they were undertaking what may very well be revolutionary in the world of cinema in this, the Information Age. Sir Sam Mendes Cbe made his name in the theatre originally, with a signature darker aesthetic on beloved classic musicals with his 1993 revival of 'Cabaret', 1994 revival of 'Oliver!', and 2003 revival of 'Gypsy'. It was the former two productions that first intrigued Steven Spielberg with Mendes, and why Spielberg- whose company DreamWorks had bought Alan Ball’s script for 'American Beauty'- hired Sam Mendes to direct the film, winning Mendes the Best Directing Oscar for this, his film debut, springboarding a career of consistently brilliant films. It’s this kind of record that has apparently imbued Sony with the confidence to back this historic project. The Sony press release reads as follows: “As conceived by Mendes,...

The Simpsons has a history of killing off beloved characters. Some only had select appearances, like “Bleeding Gums” Murphy. Others were staples, as with Edna Krabappel. There were even surprise fan favorites like Moe’s barfly Larry, whose death last season sparked outrage from die-hard Simpsons aficionados. And now Marge Simpson — only, she’s not actually dead, despite the suggestion that people read into in the season 36 finale which aired last month.

The Simpsons EP Sets the Record Straight After Marge's Death in Season 36 Finale Sparks Fan Backlash
The Simpsons caused a stir with fans with the events of the Season 36 finale. Set in the future, the series imagined that Marge Simpson died, and there had been a lot of fans expressing how upset this made them feel with posts on social media. Fortunately for these fans, Marge's death was merely a one-off story for that particular episode and shouldn't be treated as "canon" by fans.
Per Variety, executive produder Matt Selman set the record straight on Marge's death in the Season 36 finale. He stressed that after almost 800 episodes, "there is no canon" with the series, as "The Simpsons doesn't even have canon!"
“Obviously since the The Simpsons future episodes are all speculative fantasies, they’re all different every time,” Selman continued. “Marge will probably never be dead ever again. The only place Marge is dead is in one future episode that aired six weeks ago.”

It's been true the past few years, and it is still true today: "The Simpsons" is still good, people! Even 36 seasons in, the cultural phenomenon has proven to be the one truly reliable American institution left, a staple of television, a titan of pop culture, one of the most influential animated shows of all time.
In season 36 we saw great episodes featuring pairings we don't see that often anymore, like an episode where Homer and his dad create a sport, or one where Bart and his grandpa bond over baseball, and an episode that parodied "The White Lotus" (and killed a character we hadn't seen in decades). And yet, the best two episodes of the season were all about Marge Simpson (Julie Kavner). The first one is titled "P.S. I Hate You" and deals with Marge's need to be liked and the chaos that ensues when her secret hate...

You can put down the pitchforks and save the strongly-worded letters: Marge Simpson is not going anywhere. Despite a sudden uptick in online hot takes that the Simpson matriarch died in the show’s Season 36 finale, she has done no such thing. “The Simpsons” producers confirm that Marge is still very much alive, and will be around for years to come. Hell, she’s probably going to outlive all of us.
That’s the official word from “The Simpsons” executive producer Matt Selman, who confirms that what happened in the recent season finale of the series is not canon. That’s because, after 790 episodes, “there is no canon,” he told Variety. “‘The Simpsons’ doesn’t even have canon!”

The Simpsons took a dark turn in the show's latest episode. Viewers were surprised to see that one of the main family members was killed off, albeit in the future, though fans perhaps shouldn't be too upset.
In the Season 36 finale, titled "Estranger Things," a flash-forward storyline played out 35 years into the future. At this time, an adult Lisa is the commissioner of the NBA while Bart runs a retirement home where Homer resides. The episode jumped forward in time to imagine how Bart and Lisa grew apart in the years after they stopped watching The Itchy & Scratchy Show together. Also revealed at this point in the timeline was that the family matriarch had passed away.
In the episode, Marge's funeral is shown along with her tombstone, which reads, "Beloved wife, mother and pork-chop seasoner." After Marge's death, Lisa finds an old video where the matriarch encourages the Simpson children to stay close.

About a month ago. which feels like approximately 500 years in 2025 time, The Simpsons aired their 36th season finale, “Estranger Things” which took the bold step of showing us Bart and Lisa’s future — not to mention the bold step of hiring Sarah McLachlan to parody her sad-as-hell Toy Story 2 ballad.
Apparently, a lot of people are just catching up to the episode now, because one of its plot points is suddenly going viral: the death of Marge Simpson.
The internet is currently crammed with claims that the show dramatically “killed off” Marge in the season finale.
And countless fans have expressed shock over the devastating news/thing that happened in a cartoon several weeks ago.
The Simpsons obviously has a long history of killing off characters, beginning with “jazzman” Bleeding Gums Murphy, but would they really bump of the Simpson family matriarch? As anyone who watched the actual episode is already aware,...

“The Simpsons” pulled the unthinkable in their Season 36 finale – they killed off Marge.
While the show’s decision to show the actual death and fallout of the blue-haired matriarch shocked many fans, there should not be a major cause for alarm for the series’ future – which has been renewed at least through Season 40.
Below, we explain just how “The Simpsons” killed off Marge in without threat of a later “take back” – looking at you “Family Guy.” Although we’ve seen her funeral, Marge is going to be around for years to come.
Is Marge actually dead?
The short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is yes, but not for quite a while. The Season 36 finale titled “Estranger Things” leapt forward in “The Simpsons” increasingly confusing timeline to explore Marge’s death.
Bart, Lisa and Maggie are shown coming to terms with their mother’s death – who somehow passes before Homer.

The 1970s and 1980s were the golden age of the spoof. Mel Brooks was in peak send-up shape between 1974 and 1977 with the box office smashes "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein," and "High Anxiety," while David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker (aka Zaz) perfected the form with gag-a-second classics like "Kentucky Fried Movie," "Airplane!," "Police Squad!," and "Top Secret!" Of course, when studios noticed moviegoers had an appetite for such silliness, they also sought to cash in with decidedly lesser efforts like "The Big Bus," "Wholly Moses!," and "Spaceship" (aka "The Creature Wasn't Nice").
The trick to nailing the spoof has generally been to take a popular genre that's starting to verge on self-parody (like the Western or disaster movie) and amplify the most ridiculous tropes to an uproariously silly degree. The more humorless the genre, the better. Though there are big laughs to be found in the first three "Scary Movie" films,...

Pete Townshend of The Who is still not 100% sure why Zak Starkey was fired from the band.
The saga of Starkey’s departure has been playing out for several months now, with the drummer being fired from The Who back in April, re-hired just days later, and subsequently re-fired in May and replaced by Scott Devour. Townshend originally offered an explanation after Starkey was re-hired, with the co-bandleader claiming it was a result of “communication issues, personal and private on all sides, that needed to be dealt with, and these have been aired happily.”

Now relieved of his duties a second time, Starkey has told his side of the story, claiming that Roger Daltrey was frustrated by the drummer allegedly dropping beats during a show in London. “I watched the show and I can’t find any dropped beats,” Starkey told The Telegraph this month.

Jeremy Allen White is showing off his voice for his latest film, “Deliver Me from Nowhere.” The actor transforms into iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen for the biopic, which is set in the early ’80s during the recordings of “Born in the USA” and “Nebraska.”
Jeremy Strong portrays Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, with “Adolescence” star Steven Graham as Springsteen’s father. Paul Walter Hauser, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, Odessa Young, and David Krumholtz co-star. “Deliver Us from Nowhere” was written and directed by Scott Cooper, who adapted the story from Warren Zanes’ Springsteen biography.
Springsteen said during Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast that he was approached to partake in the film that only spans a sliver of his life and career. “They pitched the idea, and I said, ‘It sounds like fun,’” Springsteen said. “It’s an interesting concept, because it’s only a couple of years out of my life.

Ringo Starr is standing by his son, Zak Starkey, following his firing from The Who.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Starkey gave the full rundown on The Who firing, re-hiring, and subsequently re-firing him this year. He revealed that he turned to his father, Ringo Starr, for advice, describing him as a strong source of support throughout the ordeal. “I’m very proud of him standing up for me,” Starkey said of his father. When asked what the former Beatle thought about the situation, Starkey responded plainly: “He said, ‘I’ve never liked the way that little man runs that band’,” apparently referring to Roger Daltrey.
While Starkey didn’t reveal any other details about his father’s thoughts on the band or his firing, he did clarify that he’s not holding any grudges against Daltrey and Pete Townshend — despite referring to them as “fucking insane” and...

Audiences at the Annecy Animation Festival got a first look at the upcoming CG-animated film “High in the Clouds,” based on Paul McCartney’s book of the same name that features the voices of McCartney, Ringo Starr, Lionel Richie, Céline Dion and more.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr's earth-shattering appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 has been recounted in many films and TV specials, most famously Richard Lester's A Hard Day's Night, so what more could possibly be said about the iconic moment? For David Tedeschi, director of Beatles '64, there was a lot of meat left on the bone.
As Tedeschi tells Gold Derby, "the seed of the idea was this extraordinary footage" shot by legendary documentarians David and Albert Maysles "which had never really been given its due." The footage "only covered about two-and-a-half weeks of time," documenting the group's first trip to America. "It was a very short trip, but it felt momentous. Sheryl Crow has unveiled her tender new song “I Know” to mark Mental Health Awareness Month.
“In a recent moment when I was really struggling, I picked up my guitar and wrote a song,” Crow said of the track on social media. “I sent it to some friends and got such a strong reaction that I’m going to put it out this week – it’s called ‘I Know.’ Sometimes when we’re struggling, just knowing that another soul can relate to what we’re feeling makes things a little bit better.

Paul Mescal made headlines in 2024 for his performance in Gladiator II, and less than a year later, he’s back with another period drama. Mescal stars alongside Josh O’Connor in The History of Sound, the period drama that follows two young men who set out to record the lives of their fellow American countrymen during World War I. The History of Sound recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and enough early reviews for the film have come in that it’s been given a score on Rotten Tomatoes. The History of Sound currently sits at a 67% from critics on the aggregate site, which is below the 70% earned by Gladiator 2 on Rotten Tomatoes. The History of Sound’s Tomatometer rating comes from 21 reviews at the time of writing, so it is subject to change.
Both Mescal and O’Connor are two of the most sought-after names in Hollywood right now.
