In an eerie coincidence, on the very same day he died the co-writer of Palm Springs (1936), Humphrey Pearson, one of Guy's last films, died in Palm Springs of a gunshot wound.

He was awarded a military Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1919 King's Honours List for his services to military in World War I.

Perhaps best remembered as "Colonel Tom Stone", autocratic father of the fledgling "Lieutenant Donald Stone" (played by Richard Cromwell), in Henry Hathaway's Les Trois Lanciers du Bengale (1935).
