Sripriya

Edit
  • Sripriya played revenge-seeking fighter in the Tamil film "Billa" (1980), a role that was originated by Zeenat Aman in the Hindi film "Don" (1978). "Billa" (1980) became a huge hit and another Tamil remake was made in 2007, also titled "Billa," with Nayantara playing Sripriya's role.
  • She considers her heroes Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to be her good friends. She said that she learned a lot from them, particularly Kamal Haasan from whom she learned how to dance.
  • Her all time favorite actor is Ranga Rao, because she said that he would fit into any role with consummate ease and that nobody can imitate or mimic his looks or acting or diction. Her favorite actress is Manorama as she has done all kinds of roles. She also likes the work of actresses Saroja Devi and Radhika.
  • She has two children Sneha and Nagarjun with her actor husband.
  • By 2007, she has directed five serials, of which she considers "Viduthalai" the best serial as it was acted by Radhika. She has also directed four films, two in Tamil and two in Kannada. She still continues to act in films like "Anandam" and "Imsai Arasigal.".
  • Her personal favorite films are "Murugan Kaattiya Vazhi", "Aval Oru Thodar Kathai", "Attukkara Alamelu" and "Neeya", "Aval Appadithan", and "Vasanthathil oru Naal.".
  • She first faced the camera on November 19, 1973 for the film "Murugan Kaattiya Vazhi" directed by P. Madhavan. Her first shot went off smoothly. The director and a few people who saw the rushes were happy. One among them was actor Sivakumar, who predicted that she would turn to be a big star, which she later became.
  • Her inspiration to learn Tamil came from famous Tamil celebrities: her leading man Kamal Haasan from several films; Kannadasan's songs; Vaalee's poems and songs; and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi who she has said "can hold an audience spellbound for hours," with his speeches.
  • She attended the Church Park convent school in Chennai and studied Hindi and Sanskrit. She did not know much Tamil, especially the script. But she was quick to learn Tamil and considers it an achievement, as she starred in 200 Tamil films becoming one of the top heroines in Tamil Nadu.
  • From 1973, she has starred in more than 300 films in all the four South Indian languages, including 200 in Tamil.
  • Her husband's sister is actress Latha.
