    Also acting as hiring agent for Leon Schlesinger's cartoon studio, Norman consistently refused to let one young actor audition to do voices for the studio. According to the actor, Mel Blanc, it wasn't until Norman supposedly died that Mel was able to audition. Although Mel's arrival at the studio has been dated at 1936, there has been no hard evidence that Norman in fact died that year.
