Directed by Steve Wang and special effects legend Screaming Mad George from a screenplay by Jon Purdy that was based on the Japanese manga series Bio Booster Armor Guyver by Yoshiki Takaya, The Guyver has the following synopsis: When a researcher at the Chronos Corporation is mysteriously killed, his daughter ; her boyfriend, Sean; and a rogue CIA agent named Max Reed all suspect foul play. Boneyard Review | A Peppy Mel Gibson Can't Save Dark True Crime Thriller
Image
Boneyard explores the West Mesa murders, a grim real-life serial killer case still under investigation. The cast is divided between the out-of-place 50 Cent and Brian Van Holt, and wonderful but small performances from Nora Zehetner and Mel Gibson. Despite its chilling premise, Boneyard suffers from a flat tone with no atmosphere or suspense and a formulaic script with bad dialogue.

The creepiest part of Boneyard, besides its title, is the fact that the villain at hand may still be walking God's green Earth at this very moment. Anyone unfamiliar with the West Mesa murders should brush up, whether you tune in for this formulaic cop thriller or not. The discovery of numerous skeletal remains back in 2009 sent shockwaves through Albequerque, New Mexico and across the U.S., as it quickly became a national story and investigation. Serial killers and sex trafficking rings were thought to be linked; suspects were named,...

Nora Zehetner on Her Mel Gibson Movies in 2024, Boneyard & Monster Summer
Image
The brilliant Nora Zehetner stars in two very different 2024 films, Boneyard and Monster Summer, both with Mel Gibson. In Boneyard, Zehetner plays a female detective in a hyper-masculine world, drawing on real-life experiences for authenticity. The fantasy drama Monster Summer, set for release in October, features Zehetner as a bed-and-breakfast owner and Mason Thames' mother in a coming-of-age tale.

Nora Zehetner could be the best actor whose name you don't recognize. Hopefully you do, though. Long before Star Wars, Rian Johnson directed her in the 2006 indie classic, Brick. She was a burning bright spot in The Brothers Bloom, and had an incredible arc in Marc Maron's underrated series, Maron. She recently starred opposite Scoot McNairy and Kit Harington in the excellent Blood for Dust, and is now in two back-to-back Mel Gibson movies Boneyard and Monster Summer (formerly known as Boys of Summer). The best thing is, she plays completely different roles.

Trailer for Serial Killer Thriller 'Boneyard' with Mel Gibson & 50 Cent
Image
"So it could be anyone?" Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller / serial killer mystery title Boneyard, which is being dumped on VOD this July if anyone wants to watch. The title card in the trailer even says this movie is "inspired by true crime stories" which probably means this script went into production because they wanted to capitalize on the obsession with true crime right now. When the remains of women are discovered in the New Mexico desert, an extensive investigation is launched. Inspired by true crime stories, this chilling crime-thriller follows detectives on a hunt for the killer. As each of their agendas and methods clash, a tangled web of intrigue casts suspicion in all directions. As usual. The film stars Brian Van Holt, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Nora Zehetner, Michael Sirow, Spice Williams-Crosby, Weston Cage, Gabrielle Haugh, and Mel Gibson. This looks exceptionally generic and derivative,...

Review: Killing Hasselhoff
Never being a fan of Knight Rider, I never really paid attention to David Hasselhoff, but gathered he was a good-looking actor with limited range and skills. Somewhere along the way, he continued getting work in projects both good and bad and built a fan base (I hear he’s really big in Germany). As a result, I missed when he crossed the cultural equator and became comfortable with the ridicule and self-parody. He’s accepted where he fits in pop culture and has gone on to embrace it as witnessed by his hysterical ‘70s-era music video found on the Blu-ray of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

And now, from Universal Home Entertainment, is Killing Hasselhoff, a direct-to-dvd release that finds him the target of an amateur assassin. This sloppy, slight comedy stars Ken Jeong as a nightclub owner in debt to loan shark Wasserstein (Will Sasso). Unable to...

Fatal Games (1984) Movie Review
By Chris Wright, MoreHorror.com

Fatal Games (1984) Movie Review

Directed By: Michael Elliot

Written By Rafael Bunuel & Michael Elliot

Starring: Sally Kirkland (Diane), Lynn Banashek (Annie Rivers), Sean Masterson (Phil Dandridge), Michael O’Leary (Frank Agee), Teal Roberts (Lynn Fox), Spice Williams-Crosby (Coach Drew), Melissa Prophet (Nancy Wilson), Angela Bennett (Sue Allen Baines), Nicholas Love (Joe Ward), Lauretta Murphy (Shelly), Michael Elliot (Dr. Jordine), Christopher Mankiewicz (Coach Webber)

Stick with the Olympics! This movie is a game of fatally flawed, slow mayhem. Coming at the end of the slasher peaks in the 1980s, “Fatal Games” attempts to be different but is too flawed to even find enjoyable.

Michael Elliot’s direction could use polishing but this was the only movie he did thank goodness. This movie has only been released by Media Home Entertainment on VHS.

A group of high schoolers are slowly killed off at a local high school...
