- Wilhelm Speyer was born on February 21, 1887 in Berlin, Germany. He was a writer, known for Hat, Coat, and Glove (1934), A Night of Adventure (1944) and L'inconstante. Je sors et tu restes là (1931). He died on December 1, 1952 in Basel, Switzerland.
- Remembered for the plays "The Court of Fair Maidens" and "A Hat, a Coat and a Glove".
- Fled Germany after the Nazis came to power, eventually making his way to Hollywood where he found work as a screenwriter. Returned to West Germany in the early 1950s.
