Everybody loves a tremendous cheesy 80s horror movie. Nothing lives up to this saying more than the 1988 cult classic movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space. For years, there has been talk of a sequel and an eight-episode mini-series, but nothing has happened.
But it looks like the Klowns may be landing again, this time with some help from an A-list actor. Industry scooper Jeff Sneider of The InSneider reports that Ryan Gosling has come on board to produce a Killer Klowns from Outer Space remake for Amazon MGM Studios.
The original film was written and directed by Stephen Chiodo from a screenplay he wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. Stephen and Charles also produced the film with their other brother, Edward Chiodo. The film follows teenagers Mike (Grant Cramer) and Debbie (Suzanne Snyder) see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous...

We’re thirty-seven years down the line from the release of the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here), and even though the film’s creators have been anxious to make a follow-up for decades, we still haven’t gotten one. At the beginning of the "Seinfeld" episode "The Pie", Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) tries to feed a bite of apple pie to his date, Audrey (Suzanne Snyder), but she refuses without giving a reason. The refusal to eat something offered by a peer becomes a motif of the episode. Later on, the pair go to a restaurant owned by Audrey's father, but refuses to eat a slice of pizza she offers him. She understands immediately that this small social slight is a form of revenge. Like in all episodes of "Seinfeld," something tiny and incidental is, through a vast network of neuroses, turned into a massively awkward faux pas.
Later still, George (Jason Alexander) is having dinner with a prospective employer at a restaurant. George notices that a rival of his is in the restaurant's kitchen, and begins to suspect that his food might have been tainted in some way. When his potential employer,...

Actor Anthony Michael Hall is a member of the "Brat Pack," having rose to fame with his roles in iconic coming-of-age films from the 1980s. This includes roles in the John Hughes movies Weird Science and The Breakfast Club, and these are both films that Hall would love to see reimagined.
In an interview with Inverse, Hall was asked about the rumors that Weird Science might be getting a sequel or a remake. For his part, Hall feels like he's aged out of the time period that would have made a sequel possible, but that doesn't mean he isn't up for seeing a new movie made. The actor said he'd welcome a remake, feeling it would be "nice" if that ends up happening.

Anthony Michael Hall endorses a potential Weird Science remake, despite being "certainly too old" for a sequel. Director John Hughes passed away in 2009, leaving any potential remake decision to Universal and his estate. The resurgence of '80s aesthetics and indie film bodes well for a Weird Science remake.
One of the original stars of Weird Science endorses a potential remake of the film. Weird Science is a 1985 teen sci-fi comedy about two nerdy high school boys who invent a computer program that creates the Platonic ideal of a woman, only for their plan to go awry. Weird Science was directed by John Hughes and featured a leading cast including Anthony Michael Hall, Illan Mitchell-Smith, Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, and Robert Downey, Jr.

Scream Factory has just released Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 4K to celebrate its 35th Anniversary, and what an exciting time to be a fan of the 1980s movie. With the recent surge of Klownapalooza happening in the past few years, including tons of merch made available by Spirit Halloween and the much-anticipated video game scheduled to be released next month, it seems apropos for the Klowns to finally make their 4K debut.
In 1988, the Chiodo Brothers took their seemingly ridiculous premise of having otherworldly monsters in the form of circus clowns land on Earth to wreak havoc on a quiet little town and produced it into a full-length motion picture. Inspired by creature features and B-movies alike, their unconventional film with a deliberately hokey title would garner an initially significant following that evolved into a major cult classic close to four decades later.

Full House star Lori Loughlin says that all of the wonderful things that people have heard about Keanu Reeves are true. She can personally recall just how "lovely" he'd been with her on the set of the movie they shot together more than three decades ago.
In 1988, Loughlin and Reeves co-starred in the movie The Night Before. The dark comedy film follows Reeves as a nerdy character taking a popular high school girl (Loughlin) to prom after she loses a bet, only to wake up to discover her missing with no memories of the night before. Recently, the film was brought up by Loughlin when she appeared on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast with her former co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber. After Loughlin spoke about how much "fun" that film was to make, Sweetin expressed her surprise over Reeves' casting.

There could soon be a new TV series that continues the story of Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space has long had a cult following in the horror community. Even so, it's one of those rare genre films to have never been given an official sequel. Speaking about the possibility in a new interview with SFX Magazine (per GamesRadar), Stephen Chiodo, who directed the original film, said that he's now trying to get an eight-episode series greenlit for a streaming service rather than trying to get another feature film developed.

There’s still no word on a Killer Klowns 2, but sometime in 2023 there will be a Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One… and during a conversation with ComicBook.com, the Chiodos revealed that some of the ideas they had for a sequel have been worked into the game.
Edward Chiodo told the site, “The game is being developed by Teravision with us acting as executive producers and creative advisers. One of our main focus points was making sure that the game captures the right look and unique spirit that the film had which fans feel so emotionally connected to. We...

A couple months ago, it was announced that a video game based on the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) will be released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One sometime in 2023. A trailer for the game can be seen in the embed above, and now the folks at IGN have shared a video that shows how closely the video game resembles the movie it’s based on. That video can be viewed at the bottom of this article.
When the announcement was made, it was said that the video game maps would be “inventive, but faithful recreations of iconic locations from the Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie.” The video below does a great job of showing just how faithful these location recreations are.
The Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game is a multiplayer, asymmetrical (3 vs 7) horror game that pits three Klowns against seven Humans.

It's a balmy summer evening, the stars are out, and something strange just dropped out of the sky and landed in the woods near your hometown. What should you do? Warn the sheriff, knowing he never really listens to punk kids like you anyway? Investigate and poke it with a stick? Or ignore it and carry on making out in the back of your Convertible?
All the above answers are viable and correct if you're a stock character in a B movie horror involving hostile visitors from outer space, who like parking up on the edge of a small town where the hicks are too dumb to realize what is going on until it's almost too late. The premise was a staple of the atomic-era science fiction of the 1950s, and many directors who grew up with fond memories of those movies made their own versions in the 1980s.

While there’s still no indication that we’re going to be getting a Killer Klowns from Outer Space 2 any time soon, it sure seems like the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) is more popular than ever now. Spirit Halloween stores are filling their shelves with Killer Klowns merchandise, Mego is releasing an 8″ version of the clown Jumbo, Waxwork Records has released the score on vinyl, and there’s going to be a Killer Klowns from Outer Space haunted house at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights this year. Speaking of, Universal Studios has put together a Killer Klowns short film to promote the Halloween Horror Nights event, and you can check it out in the embed above!
The short is cool, but hopefully it’s not the closest we’ll ever come to getting a sequel.

Woo Hoo! We’re girl-starved teen nerds, and we’re cooking up our own living sex toy with our home computers! John Hughes turns an infantile idea into one of his not-bad teen angst comedies, as Kelly LeBrock materializes to fulfill their wildest dreams. The idea is of course transformed into a basically benign coming-of age story … with the underlying message that we’d not all mind having Ms. LeBrock reformat our hard drive. It all begins as a bad arrested-development joke, but Hughes’ audaciousness and fine production values make this a nostalgic favorite for folk that miss their (ugh) 1980s memories.

More classics and cult favorites from the good people at Scream Factory!
Where do I even begin talking about my love for Night of the Creeps? Writer/director Fred Dekker, a monster kid from way back, was a successful screenwriter when he got to finally direct a movie. He was only about 26 at the time, but the movie plays like the work of a guy who has waited his entire life to make a movie. He packs it top to bottom with all the things he loves and includes every shot he's dreamed of composing, from the Jaws zoom in/dolly out to the first appearance of hard-boiled Tom Atkins, shot from a high angle looking down through a ceiling fan. He doesn't direct Night of the Creeps like he's trying to prove something; he directs it like he's only going to get one chance to make a movie and...

Though they exist to entertain and make us laugh, there are few things people find scarier than clowns. Why that is, I cannot say; it’s a combination of the makeup, I think, and the fact that there is a person in there whose motivations for hiding under that makeup are unclear. As such, they have been a staple of the horror genre for close to 40 years, whether it’s Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King’s It (the novel and the two film adaptations) or the clown that attacks poor Robbie in Poltergeist or the undead clown in Zombieland or the spate of horror films from just the last few years all based around clowns: Stitches, Terrifier, Clown, and, most recently, Gags. While some may be scarier and they all vary in quality and degrees of success, there is no better clown horror movie than Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Back in March, Steven Chiodo, the director of the beloved 1988 horror cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space, revealed in a podcast interview that he wants to start a new trilogy, in the form of a TV series. The filmmaker, who was working on the project with his brother Charles Chiodo and Edward Chiodo, described the project as a "requel," which is a hybrid of both a reboot and a sequel. The filmmaker offered another update, and while nothing is set in stone quite yet, the filmmaker is confident that this unique project will happen. Here's what he had to say below during a recent podcast appearance.
"There's nothing coming out that you could guarantee. Look, Hollywood is a very fickle industry. We've been working on a sequel since the day after we made Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I mean we have tons of ideas on different directions we can take it.

Almost thirty years after its initial release in 1988, Killer Klowns from Outer Space is more popular today than it has ever been. It's the true definition of a cult classic, and it's one that continues to get discovered by young audiences. So of course those associated with the rights are looking to bring the property back. But instead of a big screen remake, we're getting a small screen 'requel', described as a sequel and a reboot. The man behind this madness is original director and Klown puppeteer Stephen Chiodo, who also co-wrote the original movie.
Talks of a Killer Klowns from Outer Space sequel have run rampant in recent years, but nothing has ever been officially locked down. Stephen Chiodo recently appeared on the Movie Crypt Podcast to offer an update on the property. And it sounds like the franchise will get new life in the form of a TV series.
