Though WhatCulture.com occasionally posts news stories for some of the bigger announcements, we often miss reporting on stories that fall under the radar or aren’t substantial enough (yet) to write whole articles about. So, we’re introducing a new weekly article devoted to the biggest movie and television news of the week, all in one handy article.
This week turned out to be full of exciting stories involving casting announcements (Wonder Woman and Warcraft among them), release dates for Bourne 5 and a Dredd sequel, and new shows in development at NBC and FX. We also heard from geek favorite director Jj Abrams about the secrecy surrounding Star Trek Into Darkness, had a surprising announcement from Bryan Singer, and were shocked and saddened by the death of Paul Walker.
So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the biggest movie and TV news stories of the week…

Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin is moving on to another Universal Pictures franchise, by signing on to direct The Bourne Legacy sequel.
We reported in August that the sequel is moving forward with Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes, Invictus) writing the screenplay. Jeremy Renner is expected to return as Treadstone agent Aaron Cross, although no other cast members have been confirmed at this time.
Justin Lin will also produce alongside Frank Marshall, Jeffrey M. Weiner and Ben Smith. No production schedule was given at this time, but the project is still considered a high priority at Universal. The Bourne Legacy took in more than $275 million worldwide last year.
It's also worth noting that, back in August, a rumor circulated that Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass were in talks to return to the franchise, although the filmmaker debunked the story shortly thereafter.
