Dragons: Race To The Edge: 15 Things to Know about the New Netflix Series
Available today on Netflix, a new 13-episode journey takes How to Train Your Dragon fans on another adventure with Hiccup, Toothless, and the dragon riders of Berk. Set between the first and second film, Dragons: Race to the Edge follows Hiccup and Co. after they discover a mysterious and powerful relic known as the Dragon Eye, which leads them to uncharted territories and undiscovered dragons. I recently had the opportunity to visit the DreamWorks campus and screen the first two episodes of the series. Executive Producers Doug Sloan and Art Brown and all the fantastic talented members of the crew have successfully crafted an extension of the How to Train Your Dragon world that feels right at home alongside the movie franchise, while existing with an independent identity. Much like the films, the series is rooted in the classic coming-of-age tale and the journey of growing up, as hiccup's...

"Inception," "The Social Network" Win Writers Guild Awards! Check Out Complete List of Winners and Nominees!
As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."

That could be the beginning of a great script Mr. Nolan, go write it :happy

For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

Nickelodeon announces three new movies
Jennette McCurdy
Two weeks after unveiling six new series orders and 16 series renewals at its upfront presentation in New York, Nickelodeon on Wednesday made more programming announcements at its first Los Angeles upfront.

Three movies will be joining the network's lineup this season: "Fred: The Movie," "Boy Who Cried Werewolf" and "Best Player."

-- "Fred" is inspired by the Fred Figglehorn character created by YouTube sensation Lucas Cruikshank. It focuses on Fred (Cruikshank) as he finally succeeds in making it to the house of long-time crush Judy (London native Pixie Lott), only to discover she has moved. He embarks on a journey to find her and hatches a grand scheme that makes him cooler than his classmates could ever imagine.

Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Mowery in John Adams (2008)
"Lars and the Real Girl" and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" edged out "Juno" to tie for top feature film honors at the 34th annual Humanitas Prize Awards, handed out Wednesday at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Lars" writer Nancy Oliver gave an emotional acceptance speech during the ceremony, which honors film and TV writing that explores the human condition. She discussed the difficulty of "trying to sell a story about loss and grief and aggravation that's a comedy."

"Diving Bell" writer Ronald Harwood was unable to make the event.

Each Humanitas award carries a cash prize, with a total of $95,000 handed out Wednesday.

In the TV categories, writers on two historical-themed HBO projects were recognized: "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," written by Daniel Giat, in the 90-minute category, and "John Adams (Part 1)," written by Kirk Ellis, in the 60-minute category. Ellis -- following remarks by a couple of...
