Christopher Woodrow has been appointed chairman of the board of Eli Roth’s The Horror Section. In his new role, Woodrow will work alongside Roth and CEO Jon Schnaars to shape the company’s strategic vision and drive growth. He will lead efforts to secure significant investment capital and identify high-value strategic partnerships.
Woodrow is the founder and chairman of Media Capital Technologies (McT), a leading media and entertainment investment company, and co-chairman of Row K Entertainment alongside McT President Raj Singh, a U.S. theatrical distribution company and subsidiary of McT which was launched in August ahead of the Toronto International Film Festival.

After creating the Thanksgiving faux trailer for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007, Eli Roth wanted to make an entire feature out of faux trailers, a project he called Trailer Trash. Trailers he teased for that included Nascar Dog, Bear Witness, and Farmageddon, plus collaborations with Edgar Wright, Robert Rodriguez, Peter Berg, Howard Stern, and Greg Nicotero, among others. Sadly, Trailer Trash never happened – but we did get a Thanksgiving movie eventually, and now it looks like Roth has found a roundabout way to make his Trailer Trash dreams come true, as he created two faux trailers that played in theatres with the recently released bonkers splatterfest Jimmy and Stiggs.

Indian cinema in the last decade (2010s) would be remembered for the best non-Hindi and independent movies getting the reach and much-deserved attention within the millennial audience. The mainstream Bollywood movies didn’t reinvent themselves in any particular way, but those film industries that updated themselves for their audiences weren’t written about more frequently.
It all started with the large and imaginative commercial films by the hyped directors, and only in 2019 smaller films such as Aamis and Sairat were talked about for their audacious imagination and powerful story-telling. When most people think of successful fantasy TV shows, HBO and Prime Video are probably the first two networks that come to mind. The zombie film, as a genre, has long served as society’s favorite eschatological playground. It offers a space to ask what we do when the world ends, but Ziam poses a different, more direct question: what if the proper response to the apocalypse is simply a well-placed elbow to the skull? The film presents a high-energy fusion of ferocious undead and the brutal art of Muay Thai, framing its violence not as a last resort but as the only logical answer.
Its setting is a near-future Thailand, a nation already brought to its knees by a global famine born from a climate crisis. This is a world of desperation, where smugglers like our protagonist, Singh, make their living in the shadows. He is a man hardened by this reality, his formidable fighting skills a product of his environment.

If Jungle, which was released 25 years ago on July 14, were to be released today it would have probably met the same fate as Adipurush, though Jungle was a better far more intelligent film.
It was also a rigorous revisionist version of the Ramayan where ‘Sita’ played by Urmila Matondkar is abducted by ‘Raavan’ , played by Sushant Singh …not Rajput, the other talented Sushant Singh.
Singh played Durga Narayan Choudhary , a Veerappan styled dacoit in the jungle who abducts a bunch of tourists, uses them to negotiate with the government, releases them but decides to hold back one hostage , Anu (Matondkar) whom he has taken a fancy to.
The rest of the tense film shot in striking hues of light green and red, is all about ‘Rama’ Fardeen Khan rescuing his Sita. Significantly, Sushant’s character never touches his special hostage physically; also none of the characters were named after their counterparts in Ramayan.

They say even broken clocks are right twice a day, but that’s maybe too generous of an analogy for Andrew Schulz. I don’t think Schulz has been right twice. However, in the most recent episode of his podcast Flagrant with Akaash Singh, he seems to be circling a correct assessment. Schulz is starting to regret voting for Donald Trump. His incredible powers of discernment have sussed out that maybe the president has been lying. Maybe, the racist real-estate developer with dozens of sexual assault allegations and felony convictions isn’t trying to make life better for the everyday American.
The breaking point for Schulz doesn’t seem to be for any of the obvious reasons; instead, the final straw seems to link back to Jeffrey Epstein. This week, the Department of Justice announced that there was no Epstein client list, and that the accused child rapist and trafficker...

In the not-so-recent history of movies, there’s been a growing curiosity—and even admiration—for what we might call the ‘silent action’ film. These are often dismissed outright: high-octane montage reels with a clear-cut hero and villain, strung together by a plot so thin it barely qualifies as narrative. But when approached through the broader lens of action cinema history, these films become fascinating case studies. They lay bare the tropes, clichés, and, occasionally, the surprising nuances of the genre’s storytelling language. Only two years ago, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s “Kill” drew all the right attention for weaponizing its seemingly generic ‘Ddlj-on-a-train’ plot into one of the most viscerally charged martial arts rampages in recent Indian cinema.
While I’m not deeply familiar with the history of Muay Thai in Thai cinema, the sheer volume and delivery of action in “Ziam” (2025) reminded me of what “Kill” pulled off.

Among all the dystopic versions of the world that we are presented with, a zombie apocalypse is the most gory, violent, and threatening version. With the world rapidly declining into a spiral of rise in population, shrinking food sources, and a looming climate crisis, human transformation into inhuman creatures is not too far from reality. The rationale of zombies is to turn every prey into a predator by spreading the infection– it is almost like the symbolic snake eating its tail. The food source that they get infected from is a fish liver, and it infuses them with a lethal fish gene that unleashes a flesh-ripping aggression from their core. Ziam is an action-packed zombie flick, but it also touches the deeper core of human existence in the face of the climate crisis, and industrialization of the limited resources available to humanity.

The first act of the Netflix horror thriller, Ziam, suggests that the zombie outbreak was likely caused by a contaminated fish. The opening voiceover of the film revealed that the melted glaciers in the polar regions had exposed the world’s oceans to a deadly bacteria that led to the death of millions of fish. In the very next sequence, we saw some men, working for a food industrialist, Mr. Vasu, CEO of the Vs Corporation, taking out crates of fish from a washed-out vessel. It could be possible that this shipping vessel went into the ocean before water receded from the shores and caught the fish, which was already poisoned by the bacteria. Meanwhile, Mr. Vasu, who was quite a wealthy and well-connected individual in Thailand, got his hands on this vessel and arranged for men to unload its cargo so he could sell the fish for a hefty sum of money.

Netflix has released Ziam, a Thai-produced film offering a distinct cultural take on the action-horror genre. The movie blends a classic zombie apocalypse narrative with the national martial art of Muay Thai. This fusion is embedded in the film’s title, a portmanteau of “Siam,” the historic name for Thailand, and a “Z” for zombie, symbolizing the undead invasion.
A Desperate Siege
Set against the backdrop of a world grappling with severe food shortages, the story follows Singh, a former professional Muay Thai boxer played by Mark-Prin Suparat. Singh’s plans for a quiet retirement are destroyed when a zombie outbreak engulfs the hospital where his girlfriend, Rin, a doctor portrayed by Nuttanicha Dungwattanawanich, is working. Trapped within the besieged medical facility, Singh must use his fighting skills to protect Rin and a young boy named Buddy (Vayla Wanvayla Boonnithipaisit) whom he finds amidst the chaos. Ziam is the kind of film that focuses on the aftermath of an event rather than going into the nitty-gritty of why it happened in the first place. The film has some serious adrenaline-pumping action sequences that make it an entertaining watch, but I don’t think it brings anything new to the table, especially when it comes to its storyline. I hoped that the film would have some engaging subplots, or some twist that would help it separate itself from other films of the same genre. A post-apocalyptic world, a zombie outbreak, and a protagonist who relentlessly fights to save his family are tropes that we have seen in multiple movies. That said, you should give the film a watch and form your own opinion. Let’s find out what happened in the film and if the protagonist was able to save his and his family’s lives at the end.

So, Ziam’s ending gives you this “mind-blowing” revelation that suggests this Netflix horror film has the makings of a larger franchise. After the zombie outbreak in Prachamit Hospital, the Royal Thai Army, or Rta, had planted explosives in the underground parking lot to demolish the building and prevent the chances of mass contamination. But shortly after placing the charges, the army chief received an order to evacuate Mr. Vasu and his wife, Ann, from the building. Actually, Mr. Vasu was a real big shot. He owned a multi-billion dollar food company called Vs Corporation that helped the people of Thailand to survive a major food shortage during the ongoing environmental crisis. Well, long story short, Mr. Vasu and his wife got infected, turned into zombies, and probably died in the explosion. Meanwhile, our hero, Singh, decided to face the horde of zombies with his punches and kicks so his girlfriend,...

I think my earliest memory of an emotionally resonant zombie movie is I Am Legend. While the film could be classified as a “horror,” it’s emotionally so well done that you can’t help but find yourself in tears even thinking back on it. Over the years, we’ve had many such movies and TV shows. World War Z, very recently The Last Of Us, and not to forget the Asian gem that is Train To Busan. But this genre has reached the point of oversaturation, and unless you bring on a nuanced take like in the Korean drama Kingdom (zombies in the Joseon dynasty), it fails to be memorable in any way. Sure, some scenes can be scary, and some can be interesting because of the CGI, but at the end of the day, we’re going to be forgetting it all if it’s not on a grand scale.

Last July, cinephiles and lovers of cult films were given a blessing from the movie gods: an honest to god rerelease of “The Fall,” Tarsem Singh’s singular 2006 fantasy adventure epic. The movie, which stars Lee Pace in a dual role as an injured 1915 Hollywood stuntman and the hero of an epic tale he spins for a hospitalized little girl, was greeted with mixed reviews but love from its biggest fans upon its 2006 Toronto Film Festival premiere. In the years since its premiere, the film has developed a passionate little fandom, but actually tracking it down has proven more difficult than it should be — it’s been completely unavailable on streaming for years.

When Jafar Panahi was awarded the Palme d’Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, it felt less like a career milestone and more like a collective sigh of justice served. For over a decade, Panahi has been making films under a state-imposed ban, facing imprisonment, surveillance, and the systematic stripping of his freedoms. Yet his cinema never ceased. With works smuggled out of Iran, made in secret or in confined spaces, Panahi turned censorship into his canvas, crafting films that spoke in whispers and still managed to shake the world.
Amid this legacy of cinematic resistance, Sreemoyee Singh’s “And, Towards Happy Alleys” (2023) stands as one of the most poignant tributes ever made to Panahi’s life and art. What begins as a doctoral research trip from Kolkata to Tehran evolves into a journey of solidarity across boundaries, both cultural and ideological. Uttera Singh’s Pinch (2025) arrives as a confident first feature from a multi-hatted creator who writes, directs and plays Maitri, a young travel-vlogger grappling with an assault by her own landlord. Set in a dusty western Indian town, the film unfolds within a cramped apartment complex and spills into a vibrant Hindu festival sequence.
Singh opens with a startling public attack—an unsuspecting guest accused by Maitri of violating her—and then rewinds twenty-four hours, tracking how everyday interactions among neighbors, relatives and festival pilgrims build toward riotous retaliation.
This social dramedy balances wry humor with mounting tension as Maitri navigates patriarchal strictures and her own thirst for justice. Singh’s tight script clocks in at just 83 minutes, moving briskly from hallway confrontations to ritual processions with minimal detours.

From Agatha Christie obsessions to critically acclaimed crime dramas, some of the best content from across the pond is available to stream in the US on BritBox. Perhaps the most exciting new addition to the streamer's line-up is the six-episode series, Outrageous, the latest in a long line of adaptations based on the notorious Mitford sisters. Following in the footsteps of the Amazon miniseries, The Pursuit of Love, which detailed the eldest sister's novels, Outrageous, co-directed by Joss Agnew and Ellie Heydon, takes the infamous raucous stories and gives them a modern refresh with gorgeous color design and a provocative edge.
The series, which features a selection of top performers, including the likes of Bridgerton's Bessie Carter, James Purefoy (The Following), Isobel Jesper Jones (The Serpent Queen), Joanna Vanderham (The Runaway), Shannon Watson (The Jetty), Zoe Brough, and more, released on BritBox just two days ago and is already impressing both audiences and critics.
