BBC dramas This is Going To Hurt and The Responder lead the nominations for this year’s Bafta Television and Bafta Craft awards with six nominations each.

Both dramas have received nods in the leading actor category for Ben Wishaw and Martin Freeman’s performances.

Chernobyl leads the nominations for this year’s Bafta Television and Bafta Craft awards, which were postponed from May to July due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sky/HBO mini-series is up for 14 awards (11 craft and three television), including Jarred Harris for leading actor, Stellan Skarsgard for supporting actor and best mini-series.

The Crown has the next highest number of nominations with seven, including drama series, Josh O’Connor for supporting actor and Helena Bonham Carter for supporting actress.

Fleabag and Giri/Haji both have six nominations.

Doctor Who season 12 is now building to its climax, with just three episodes left to go, and fans’ thoughts are turning to the future and when they can expect to see season 13.

Over the past few years, viewers have had to learn to be patient between each run. Season 11 aired in late 2018, for example, and season 12 only arrived this year. Unfortunately, it sounds like we’re in for another 18 month or so wait when it comes to the next run.

Back in March, BBC America announced that Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams will be guest starring in a Season 9 episode of Doctor Who. While we saw Maisie Williams pop up in a recent trailer, we still haven't heard much about who she's playing in the beloved series. Last month at Comic-Con, BBC debuted the first trailer for Season 9 of Doctor Who, while announcing that the show will return September 19. If you've been chomping at the bit for new footage since then, you're in luck, as the network has revealed the second Doctor Who trailer today, which offers a few new glimpses at guest star Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones). Doctor Who has marked International Women's Day by imagining what the Tardis would look like if it were piloted entirely by women.

The BBC show has released a photo of the current female cast and crew assembled in the Doctor's time and space-travel machine to celebrate their contribution.

The photo features current leading actress Jenna Coleman, who plays companion Clara Oswald, and Michelle Gomez, who plays the current incarnation of the Master, at the controls of the Tardis.

The photo also includes line producer Tracie Simpson, producer Nikki Wilson and director Hettie Macdonald leading the group of women who work on the sci-fi drama.

What has become clear since news broke that while Doctor Who had been picked up for a seventh season, but not all 13 episodes ordered would air in 2012, is there seems to be more issues than financial ones troubling BBC Wales.

One issue seems to have been troubles behind the scenes that eventually –and rather surprisingly – led to executive producer Piers Wenger to announce last month his departure from the BBC for a job at Film4.

According to the site Private Eye, it seems some of those behind the scenes chaos can be blamed on decisions “taken by Wenger and his fellow executive producer Beth Willis last year to dispense with the services of producers Tracie Simpson and Peter Bennett, both of whom had worked on the program since 2005.” It seems their departure (and an attempt to rehire them at a later date, in which they both declined), and subsequent jobs...

The BBC Press Office has published its official preview of Christmas programming on the BBC, including a heavy emphasis on the forthcoming two-part Doctor Who special, "The End of Time", which will see the departure of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. The release states:

Highlights of this year's offering include David Tennant's final farewell in a two-part special of Doctor Who called The End Of Time. The Doctor's oldest enemy – the Master (John Simm) – returns alongside former companion Donna (Catherine Tate) and old favourite Wilf (Bernard Cribbins), as the entire human race faces its last ever Christmas – unless the Doctor can save the day.

The next-up Doctor Who special, “Planet of the Dead,” has recently been shooting in the Arab emirate of Dubai. Why? According to show producer Tracie Simpson: The locations in Dubai are a perfect match for writer Russell T Davies's vision of the episode and we expect to film some incredible scenes while we are here. What’s the big deal? Well, Davies is, of course, also the executive producer of Doctor Who, and he’s been called -- thanks to the progressive themes of equality and reason he’s promoted in all of his work, not just Who -- the most influential gay man in Britain (though he is rankled by that).
