Lord of the Rings’ Hugo Weaving Played Two Roles Even the Biggest Fans Missed
Image
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is up there in popculture royalty, with many a nerd able to quote even the most obscure lines from the epically long films, and actor Hugo Weaving is a big part of that. Many know him as the face of The Matrix’s Agent Smith, as well as the stoic and stern elf Elrond, but even the biggest fan would have missed this little-known fact about the actor.

Hugo Weaving and His Surprising Role

Hugo Weaving’s Elrond appears in five of the six films in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit franchises, and the character is a huge part of the story we’ve all come to know and love over the years. That said, beyond Elrond, many won’t know that Hugo Weaving played another role in the franchise, and it’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring...

Elrond's Rings Of Power Season 2 Story Makes One Lord Of The Rings Scene So Much Sadder
Image
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 makes an Elrond scene from the movies even more tragic. Played by Robert Aramayo, the younger Elrond is one of the most important Rings of Power characters. His relationships with Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Durin IV (Owain Arthrur) have been at the heart of the series. Elrond has done his best to balance his friendship with Durin against the larger issues that the Elves and the Dwarves face.

In season 2, Elrond's friendship with Galadriel is tested by their opposing views on whether the rings of power should be used. By Rings of Power season 2's ending, Elrond's viewpoint on the rings of power changes given the actions of Galadriel and the changes that have occurred across Middle-earth. Despite having a different outlook heading into Rings of Power season 3, Elrond's resistance to the rings makes a scene from the movies sadder.

Why Elrond Is So Fixated on Destroying the 'Rings of Power' in Season 2
Image
Fans of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring will remember an iconic sequence where Elrond (Hugo Weaving) urges Isildur (Harry Sinclair) to toss the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom, only for the Prince to opt to keep it for himself instead. Now with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 streaming on Prime Video, it's becoming clear that that was not the first time Elrond tried to do something about Sauron's rise to power through the use of jewellery.

How Is Aragorn Related to isildur in The Lord of the Rings?
Image
Aragorn's lineage as a descendant of Nmenreans is key in The Lord of the Rings narrative. There are thousands of years between Isildur and Aragorn, making their relation significant. Aragorn's actions in resisting the temptation of the One Ring highlight his worthiness as a king.

The question of Aragorn's true lineage is a big part of The Lord of the Rings narrative. As a descendant of Isildur, who failed to destroy the ring after he cut it from Sauron's hand at the climax of the War of the Last Alliance, his heritage is mentioned repeatedly throughout, casting a huge shadow over his future. And yet, despite its importance to the story, there are thousands of years between the death of Isildur and the birth of Aragorn. So, it raises the question: How is Aragorn related to Isildur? What's more, why does it matter?

It's important to know that...

Lord Of The Rings Characters Become Cats In Feline Art
Image
AI-generated art imagines Lord of the Rings characters as cats, including Frodo, Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn. Some characters in Peter Jackson's trilogy were so memorable or compelling that they could have used more screen time, like Faramir and Eomer. The Lord of the Rings extended editions feature more screen time for many of the characters, including those who played more minor roles.

Key The Lord of the Rings characters become feline creations in a batch of AI images. Adapting the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson first brought the world of Middle-earth to life in live-action in 2001. The director's critically-acclaimed trilogy chronicles Frodo's (Elijah Wood) epic quest to destroy the One Ring, with the courageous Hobbit encountering a variety of allies and enemies over the course of his journey.

Now, AI-generated art shared by Cats Life Master on Instagram imagines what some of these Lord of the Rings characters...

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Treats The Rings As The 'Nuclear Bomb In Middle-Earth'
Image
Spoilers ahead for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."

Even if you've never read "The Hobbit" or "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien and somehow missed the Peter Jackson trilogies, you've surely heard someone repeat the quote, "One ring to rule them all." Set thousands of years before the Third Age depicted in those books and films, the Prime Video series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is all about the creation of the rings that corrupted Middle-earth, the rise of Sauron, and how he fooled the humans, elves, and dwarves about his sinister intentions.

During the Second Age, when the series takes place, the battle with the great evil of Morgoth has been fought and won, but his successor, Sauron, has disappeared. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) has been trying to find him over the centuries, and find him she finally has, in...

Charlie Vickers in Le Seigneur des anneaux : Les Anneaux de pouvoir (2022)
‘Lotr: The Rings of Power’ Star Maxim Baldry on Númenor Going to War, Isildur’s Destiny
Charlie Vickers in Le Seigneur des anneaux : Les Anneaux de pouvoir (2022)
[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 5, “Partings.”] There are a lot of characters to track in Prime Video’s blockbuster fantasy drama The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power but only a few that we know will play a major role later on in the series. One of those key characters is Maxim Baldry‘s young sailor, Isildur. In Peter Jackson‘s Lord of the Rings films, we see Isildur in flashbacks (played by Harry Sinclair) as the man who will eventually destroy Sauron—but not the ever-important ring. For now, he’s just an angsty young Númenórean with big dreams, and a father—Lloyd Owen’s Elendil—who is constantly having to knock him down a few pegs to keep him in line. In this upcoming episode, we’ll (hopefully) see some more action for Isildur, who has finally “earned” a spot aboard...

Every Main Character In Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, Ranked Worst To Best
Image
Amazon's highly anticipated journey into Middle-earth has finally arrived, expanding on a time period only briefly touched on in J.R.R. Tolkien's novels. "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is a daring, glossy, and thrilling original series that explores the Second Age of Middle-earth, approximately 5,000 years before the events of Peter Jackson's beloved "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Following characters both new and familiar, the series will explore how the Rings of Power came to be, and how the dark lord Sauron rose to power.

Drawing primarily on the material in the appendix of "The Lord of the Rings," "The Rings of Power" is one of the most exciting attempts to create original material in the Middle-earth canon. As a result, it has several fascinating new characters for viewers to dissect and enjoy, such as Halbrand and Disa, along with existing fan-favorites like Galadriel and Elrond.

The Rings Of Power Just Set The Stage For Some Major Lord Of The Rings Characters
Image
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" isn't the first time trolls have tried to break up a fellowship, and it isn't the first time we've heard the name Isildur, either. With its sprawling cast, it could be easy to lose track of names and faces in the series, including who is new and who we've already seen in the Peter Jackson live-action adaptations: The "Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit" movie trilogies, adapted from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. In the third and latest "Rings of Power" episode, "Adar," there are two important new/old faces that pop up: Isildur and his father Elendil, while the name of Isildur's brother Anárion also receives a mention.

So who exactly are these guys? Well, let's backtrack to 2001, when Peter Jackson's first "Lord of the Rings" movie thundered into theaters. If you remember the prologue to "The Fellowship of the Ring,...

Kirshner, CBS Par ink deal
Rebecca Kirshner, who just joined the CW's freshman hit "90210" as an executive producer, has inked a seven-figure overall deal with the show's producer, CBS Par Network TV.

In the first of her two-year pact, she will focus on "90210," where she runs the writers room, working alongside executive producers/showrunners Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah. In the second year, she will segue into development while helping on "90210" as a consultant if it returns for a second season.

Following her stint as a co-executive producer on "Gilmore Girls," Kirshner shifted her attention to development in the past year. She was in the thick of prepping pitches when she got a call from CBS Par head of drama Julie McNamara; at first thought she was being approached to join a sci-fi show set in the year 90210.

"I was so focused on development I had ruled out staffing on a show," Kirshner said. But...
