According to the autopsy report, the fitness guru has diphenhydramine, trazodone, and zolpidem in his system. However, none of these drugs seem to have contributed to the cause of death.

Diphenhydramine is commonly used to treat allergies. Trazadone, on the other hand, is often used to treat depression, and zolpidem is used to address insomnia.

That said, the autopsy gave some insight into Richard Simmons’ final days. It suggested that there were more than just his prescription medications involved.

Richard Simmons apparently had a fall two days before he died.

Updated: The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday confirmed the cause of death for fitness guru Richard Simmons. The 76-year-old died as a result “of blunt traumatic injuries” with “arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease as a contributing condition,” the Me’s office said in a statement. The death was ruled accidental.

Simmons reportedly fell at his home on July 11 and spent the following day in bed. He was found unresponsive on his bedroom floor the morning of July 13th. 9-1-1 was called and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said.

Previous, August 21: Fitness guru Richard Simmons’ death was a result of “complications from recent falls and heart disease,” according to his brother, Lenny Simmons.

Simmons’ death has been officially ruled accidental, according to his brother, Lenny Simmons, who spoke exclusively to People. On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Simmons family spokesperson, Tom Estey, released a statement confirming the details.

“This morning, Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny received a call from the LA Coroner’s office,” Estey stated.

“The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard’s death was accidental, caused by complications from recent falls, with heart disease being a contributing factor.”

Per the report, the toxicology report was negative, aside from the prescribed medication that is not specified.
