In 2017, Netflix rebooted the 1975 sitcom One Day at a Time, giving it a makeover and following three generations of a Latine family. The series faced not just one but two cancelations, but fans can finally find out how the series was supposed to end.
One Day at a Time tackled many serious subjects, despite its sitcom status. Similar to ABC's Black-ish, One Day a Time put the members of the family through different scenarios, sometimes humorous, that led to opportunities for growth, educating the viewer in the process. Netflix canceled the series after three seasons, and Pop took over and revived it in 2020, but the pandemic stopped production and the network decided to cancel it, despite its 99% Rotten Tomatoes score. Per Variety, the cast will reunite to table read the remaining three episodes, including the one that served as the series finale.

Members of the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America have moved to form Jewish committees, finding that recent events demonstrate a need for better representation within the guilds.
In the DGA, members have gathered more than 300 signatures on a petition calling on the board to create a Jewish Diversity Committee, which would address issues like antisemitism and employment equity in Hollywood.
“We want a seat at the table,” said Stuart Acher, a director who is organizing the effort. “The guild looks to these diversity committees as advisers to help protect representation and rights for people of that community. Now, Jews don’t have a voice. No one is speaking for the Jews.”
The DGA has eight diversity committees, including those for Black, Latino, Asian American, women, LGBTQ and disabled members.
In recent weeks, WGA West agreed to create a Jewish Writers Committee, which is co-chaired by Dan Signer and Patrick Moss.

The ongoing talks between the WGA and the AMPTP continued to look promising through the weekend, but the writers couldn’t help but have fun with the studios’ claim that they made their “best and final offer.”
After the statement was made late Saturday before talks continued today, union members took to X to have a little fun with the AMPTP’s choice of words.

Members of the striking Writers Guild of America voiced their frustrations about the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers’ latest attempts to resume negotiations following a meeting Friday that was designed to determine if there was a path forward. The guild informed members Friday — day 95 of the strike — that the talks with the group that represents the studios and streamers produced no agreement.
Included in the update to WGA members was the union’s summary of the issues both sides planned to bring back to the table when negotiations formally resume.
According to the Writers Guild memo, the AMPTP is seeking to use the deal that the Directors Guild of America agreed to earlier this summer as a template for shared issues like pay increases and expressed a willingness to increase their offer on a few writer-specific TV minimums — but not such core writer issues as the minimum size...

One Day at a Time kicked off its inaugural season on Pop TV by reflecting on its past and looking towards the future.
After a not-so-subtle jab at its former streaming home, in which Alex declared that “there’s nothing good on Netflix anymore,” the Season 4 premiere turned its attention to a special visitor: sitcom veteran Ray Romano, who played census taker Brian.
