January 2006
Daniel Shriver was born in Van Wert, Ohio. He earned a BA degree with a double major in Theatre and in Marketing from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. In college he used the stage name Dann Shriver, giving himself an extra N in his name as an homage to his father, Donn Shriver. The spelling stuck for a while, and then Daniel went back to the original spelling. After college he worked full time in marketing for a distributor of non-food items to grocery stores, and for Aeroquip, at the time the largest manufacturer of hydraulic hoses and fittings. Still, in his free time he would travel several hours to go to Detroit, where he was part of the underground comedy scene. After being laid off from the hose manufacturer, he decided to move to Chicago to study at Second City. While at Second City he studied under Del Close, David Sheppard' and Bernard Sahlins. Second City hired Daniel for the touring company and when he wasn't on the road, he was developing a strong production background. In 1992 he moved to L.A. and shifted his efforts behind the scenes, working as a script supervisor, cameraman, editor, segment producer, field producer, director and producer. He has worked for Big Brother Danmark (2001) (CBS) as a story editor, Guinness World Records: Primetime (1998) (Fox) as a segment producer. He has also worked for UPN, The Travel Channel, the Discovery Channel, and Fox Family Channel.
