    His 1954 radio play The Investigator, produced by Andrew Allan for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and starring John Dranie, caused an enormous international stir. A satire on Senator Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunt, some 100,000 bootlegged copies were smuggled into the United States, where it is believed by some to have contributed to McCarthy's downfall.
