The Cabin in the Woods (2011) Revisited – Horror Party Movies
Drew Goddard
A new episode of our Best Horror Party Movies video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at the 2011 horror comedy The Cabin the Woods (watch it Here). To find out how we party to this movie, check out the video embedded above!

Directed by Drew Goddard from a screenplay he wrote with producer Joss Whedon, The Cabin in the Woods has the following synopsis: When five college friends arrive at a remote forest cabin for a little vacation, little do they expect the horrors that await them. One by one, the youths fall victim to backwoods zombies, but there is another factor at play. Two scientists are manipulating the ghoulish goings-on, but even as the body count rises, there is yet more at work than meets the eye. Goddard and Whedon, who previously worked together on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel TV shows,...

The Fog (2005) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Rupert Wainwright
A new episode of the Revisited video series has arrived online this morning… and this time around, we’re looking back at a movie that has a very bad reputation: director Rupert Wainwright’s 2005 remake of the John Carpenter cult classic The Fog (you can watch the remake Here). This video sets out to explain “Why The Fog fails,” and you can hear all about it in the embed above.

Directed by Wainwright from a screenplay written by Cooper Layne, The Fog remake feels like an attempt to put a J-horror-style twist on the ideas from Carpenter’s film. It has the following synopsis: The prosperous town of Antonio Bay, Oregon is born in blood, as the town’s founders get their money by murdering a colony of lepers. But the truth of what they did is concealed from subsequent generations. More than 100 years later, Elizabeth Williams, whose family lives in Antonio Bay,...

New Orleans Times-Picayune Cuts Entire Staff After Sale To Rival Paper
In another devastating blow to the newspaper industry, The Times-Picayune of New Orleans has laid off its entire staff following a sale to rival publication, the New Orleans Advocate.

The 182-year-old Times-Picayune and its website nola.com were acquired Thursday, The Advocate announced on its website.

The article said Advocate owners Dathel and John Georges purchased their award-winning rival from the Newhouse family’s Advance Local Media.

“New Orleans has never lost its love for a daily newspaper,” John Georges said. “I want to thank Advance for working with us to ensure a strong print and online news company for years to come.”

However, the future for Times-Picayune employees is uncertain at best. Citing a Warn (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) filing with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, the New York Post said all 161 of the paper’s staffers, including 65 editors and reporters, are losing their jobs.
