Elena Shanina is a Soviet and Russian theater and film actress. People's Artist of Russia.
As a child, Elena attended a drama studio. She read a lot. After school, she came to Leningrad to enroll, where her grandmother lived. She entered the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography, on Igor Vladimirov's course. In 1974 Elena Shanina graduated from this acting department. In 1975, she was accepted into the troupe of the famous Lenin Komsomol Theatre - 'Lenkom'. Already in her first works Elena Shanina declared herself as a brilliant actress with great dramatic talent. The role of Conchita in the play Yunona i Avos (1983) brought the actress great fame. It was Conchita who made her a star of the Lenkom Theatre. A number of performances with Elena Shanina's participation were successfully transferred to the television screen.
She made her film debut in 1975 with director Ekaterina Stashevskaya-Naroditskaya in Kontsert dlya dvukh skripok (1975) - she played the circus performer Sandy. Then she starred in Leonid Bykov's legendary film Aty-baty, shli soldaty... (1977) - she played Kima. Mark Zakharov cast her in his adaptation of the novel 12 stulev (1977) - she played perfectly the role of Ellochka Shchukina. In the 2000s, she played several roles in TV series.
