Betty Shabazz(1936-1997)

Had six daughters: Attallah Shabazz (born 1958), Qubilah Shabazz (born 1960), Ilyasah Shabazz (born 1963), Gamilah Shabazz (born 1964), and twins Malaak and Malikah Shabazz (born 1965).

[on her 1965 pilgrimage to Mecca] I really don't know where I would be today if I had not gone to Mecca to make Hajj shortly after Malcolm was assassinated. This is what helped put me back on track. Going to Mecca, making Hajj, was very good for me because it made me think of all the people in the world who loved me and were for me, who prayed that I would get my life back together. I stopped focusing on the people who were trying to tear me and my family apart.
