Vladimir Shainskiy was born on December 12, 1925 in Kyiv in a Jewish family. Since 1936, he studied violin at the music school, a ten-year school at the Kyiv Conservatory, but the war that broke out interrupted his studies, and in 1941 the family was evacuated to Tashkent. Vladimir continued his musical education at the Tashkent Conservatory, where he studied until 1943, when he was called to the Red Army. He served in the regiment of communications in Central Asia, where he began to write music. After the war in 1945, Vladimir Shainsky entered the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovskiy for the orchestra faculty. From 1949 to 1952, he worked in the orchestra of Leonid Utyosov. Then he taught in the violin class at the music school (1952-1954), and in the period from 1954 to 1962, he worked as an orchestrator, composer, and music director of various variety orchestras. He lived and worked in Moscow until 2000. Since 2000, he lived in Israel. In 2004, he moved to the United States in San Diego, where he received a residence permit. For a long time, he lived in two countries, Russia and the United States. Since 2013, he has lived permanently in the USA. He passed away on December 25, 2017, in the United States.
