Pretty soon, CBS sitcom Mom lands on Netflix for the first time, as does USA's Mr. Robot and The CW's romantic drama Sullivan's Crossing. But the series that will deliver all the soapy twists and turns is E! Network's scripted drama The Royals.

The cast and crew have opened up about how series creator Mark Schwahn created a toxic workplace culture during the series' production, and during their podcast Drama Queens, series stars Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz (Pearson) weighed in on what was really behind the exit of main characters like Peyton (Hilarie Burton Morgan) and Lucas (Chad Michael Murray).

12 Best TV Shows Like Outer Banks
Image
One of Netflix's biggest hit original series in recent years is "Outer Banks," which premiered in 2020 and ran for five seasons. Set in the scenic beach towns of North Carolina, the series blended coming-of-age drama, along with romance and action, elevated by its young, charismatic main cast. "Outer Banks" reinvigorated teen dramas and thrillers, but the genre has been a television staple for decades. With that in mind, there are countless shows like "Outer Banks" for fans looking to find the series' effective soap operatic stakes elsewhere.

From shows set in other picturesque locations around the country or featuring cool, stylish characters in a cycle of love and betrayal, there are plenty of teen dramas to watch. What links these series are young, impossibly beautiful main characters, often thrust into melodramatic storylines that grow increasingly ludicrous. For fans of the genre, they wouldn't have these teen and young adult shows any other way.

One Tree Hill Sequel: Cast, Story & Everything We Know
Image
A One Tree Hill sequel is in the works on Netflix, and there are already a ton of updates about the return of the 2000s classic. Debuting in 2003 on The WB (later CW), the series originally concerned the lives of high-school-aged brothers Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) in the fictional North Carolina town of Tree Hill. However, as the series continued throughout its nine-season run, other characters began to take focus, and the story matured. Though one of many teen dramas in the Aughts, One Tree Hill has managed to stand the test of time.

Hopes of a revival have been high since the series went off the air in 2012, and like many of its long-running contemporaries, the final few seasons of One Tree Hill were lackluster. Behind-the-scenes controversies involving show creator Mark Schwahn's sexual harassment accusations further clouded the show's reputation, and a sequel...

10 Best TV Shows For Fans Of Gilmore Girls
Image
Of the many TV series released throughout the 2000s, one of the most beloved and nostalgic is Gilmore Girls, which makes audiences eager to find another show that can unlock the same kind of magic. First released in 2000, Gilmore Girls follows mother-daughter duo Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore. Over the course of seven seasons, the two bicker, bond, and grow in indefinable ways in their idyllic town, Stars Hollow. Gilmore Girls boasts a lovable cast and compelling drama, but above all, the series is best known for its peaceful and comforting ambiance.

Although Gilmore Girls is a fairly quirky and unique series, there are many other TV shows out there that have similar features. Shows that focus on mother-daughter connections are the most obvious comparisons. However, there are also series that center on small town drama or have large, eccentric casts, which feel kindred to the 2000 series. Of course, there...

The Real Monster of ‘One Tree Hill’ Who Made Life Hell for Craig Sheffer Deserves Jail: ‘We’re just going to get rid of him’
Image
For One Tree Hill fans, besides the lead prominent characters, if there was one person that caught their fancy the most among others, it was Keith Alan Scott aka the beloved Uncle Keith. Embodied by Craig Sheffer throughout the time he appeared in real-time and in visions to Dan, and didn’t take long to earn a special place in fans’ hearts before he was killed rather unexpectedly.

However, Sheffer’s experience of working on this respective drama wasn’t exactly the best. If anything, not only did he find himself under tremendous “non-collaborative control” but was also blindsided by his character’s out-of-the-blue death. And the person to blame for making the actor’s life a living hell while on the show was none other than show creator Mark Schwahn.

The WB drama One Tree Hill lasted for the better part of a decade. Bethany Joy Lenz Was Warned ‘One Tree Hill’ Was About ‘F—ing and Sucking’ Before Signing On, Compares Creator to Her Cult Leader

Bethany Joy Lenz isn’t only opening up about her experience in the Big House Family cult. In her new book, “Dinner for Vampires,” the actor details about her time as Haley James (later Scott) on “One Tree Hill.”

Lenz writes that she initially passed on the WB series since she was focused on doing film and didn’t want to be “stuck on a teen soap.” Eventually, after the actor cast as Haley didn’t work out for the pilot, she was called again; the executive knew her since he’d tried to get her to read for “What I Like About You.”

“The show was marketed toward tween girls, and I was concerned that the big-sister role I was testing for — which eventually went to the lovely Jennie Garth — was a woman living with her boyfriend,” Lenz writes about the Amanda Bynes-led show. “I didn’t want...

While the drama series has become one of the most beloved shows of all time and a comfort series to many fans, One Tree Hill is also plagued with the allegations against the controversial creator Mark Schwahn.

One Tree Hill is a coming-of-age drama, but many plotlines haven't aged well, despite the love and dedication of the cast. In August, news broke out that Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer actresses Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan are rebooting One Tree Hill, in a partnership with Netflix. While the series isn't officially greenlit, Burton Morgan explained in an interview with People how the One Tree Hill reboot would be different from the original series.
