    Leading German actress and singer, first on stage in 1927 with the Hamburger Flora-Varieté as a soubrette. Appeared in Berlin revues, cabaret and operettas, often in partnership with Richard Tauber. Popular in the 1950's and 60's in Berlin cabaret ("Die Insulaner"), on radio broadcasts for station RIAS and as a film and television character actress. Famous for her "Insulaner Song", which became an anthem for the beleaguered citizens of West Berlin at the height of the Cold War. Schollwer also provided the dubbing voice for Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, Thelma Ritter and Mabel Albertson.
