Got to know her husband Hermann Schell, a Swiss author, at the Kammerspiele in Munich (1923).
Grandmother of Nastassja Schell, Oliver Schell and Marie Theres Relin.
She appeared in two films directed by her son Maximilian Schell: Der Fußgänger (1973) and Double Jeu (1975).
