Fernando Sancho was a Spanish actor best known for his prolific career in Spaghetti Westerns, where he became iconic for his charismatic portrayals of Mexican bandits. A versatile performer, he also worked in radio, dubbing, and appeared in major international productions such as Lawrence d'Arabie (1962), Le roi des rois (1961), and Les 55 Jours de Pékin (1963). Sancho began his career in the early 1940s after studying and performing in theater alongside his brother. Over the decades, he appeared in numerous horror films, historical dramas, and literary adaptations, including several based on the works of Karl May. Despite often playing villains on screen, he was widely regarded as an eccentric and cultured figure off camera. He earned multiple accolades throughout his career, including awards from the National Syndicate of Spectacle and the Circle of Cinematographic Writers.
