The Frasier revival's season 2 finale wraps up a slightly improved sophomore year by sticking to its signature storytelling approach. It's no secret that when the Paramount+ reboot of the beloved sitcom was announced, it was met with a divisive response considering the risks of bringing it back. It didn't help that the majority of its original ensemble isn't involved, including David Hyde Pierce's Niles and Jane Leeves' Daphne. The Frasier season 1 finale effectively addressed the show's premise, which was about Frasier reconnecting with his son, Freddy. However, Paramount+ deemed that the series deserved at least another year.

Frasier performs a duet with a character who may be his daughter in a new clip. Frasier season 2 is a continuation of the reboot of the iconic 1990s sitcom, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2023. Prime Video has unveiled the premiere date for the third season of The Boys.

Amazon revealed during the latest installment of Vought News Network, which can be viewed above, that The Boys will bring the heat this summer when it returns with a three-episode premiere on Friday, June 3. New episodes will be available each Friday leading to the season finale July 8.

Laurie Holden has suited up as the Crimson Countess in a sneak-peek image for Season 3 of The Boys on Amazon.

The Boys‘ official Instagram account provided fans of the comic book series their first look at Holden’s masked supe on Friday. In June, Deadline learned that The Americans and Proven Innocent actress was set to join the upcoming season in a recurring role.

As the Crimson Countess, Holden will join stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid and Antony Starr. Additional actors joining Season 3 as supes are Sean Patrick Flanery, Miles Gaston and Nick Wechsler. Frances Turner, Kristin Booth and Jack Doolan will also appear in Season 3.

Jensen Ackles will also join the upcoming season as Soldier Boy.

The picture sees Holden donning a wig, super-suit complete with a cape all in color-ways apt for the Crimson Countess. The Instagram caption is short but pointed, reading, “Payback’s a b*tch.

While celebrating The Boys‘ five Emmy nominations on Tuesday, creator Eric Kripke teased the Amazon drama’s third season, as well as an upcoming spinoff.

Kripke said he is “a little over three fourths” of the way through production on Season 3. He added that the new season represents “the hardest production year of anything [he’s] ever done, by a mile.”

While the first two seasons of the superhero show spoke to the challenges facing “America in this exact minute,” the upcoming season will look to the past.

The TV Academy music branch is clearly not impressed by big names.

None of the superstars who entered the 2020-21 Emmy competition in the music categories — including H.E.R., Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Sara Bareilles, Dolly Parton and Cher — were rewarded Wednesday when the 73rd annual Emmy Award nominations were announced.

Debuting in September, the eight-episode sophomore season nearly doubled the Season 1 worldwide audience (+89%) in just its first two weeks, and even got a shout-out from former President Barack Obama to boot.

The success quickly spawned a Season 3 renewal, with Amazon also at work on a spinoff set at America’s only college exclusively for YA superheroes. The spinoff is being described as “part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.”

“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and “Promising Young Woman” were named the best adapted original screenplays of 2021 at the Writers Guild Awards, which took place in a virtual ceremony on Sunday.

While “Promising Young Woman” went into the show with a slight edge over “The Trial of the Chicago 7’ for the original-screenplay award,”Borat” was a decided dark horse in the adapted-screenplay category, whose nominees also included “One Night in Miami,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “News of the World’ and “The White Tiger.”

Writers Guild winners in the screenplay categories go on to win Oscars almost two-thirds of the time, although the two awards sometimes differ because the WGA is an award strictly for screenplays for movies that were made under the terms of the guild’s Minimum Basic Agreement, or similar agreements from a number of international guilds.

Every year a slew of Oscar-nominated scripts are deemed ineligible for consideration here due to guild guidelines. Indeed, over the past 12 years only 80 of the Writers Guild of America Awards nominees have numbered among the 120 screenplays that reaped Academy Awards bids. Amazon Prime Video confirmed Monday that the beloved actor will be joining the cast of the hit series The Boys for Season 3.

The casting news also dropped on Ackles' social media accounts.

He is set to star as Soldier Boy - the original Superhero.

Amazon Studios today announced it has officially ordered a third season of its hit series The Boys, co-produced with Sony Pictures Television, ahead of its highly anticipated second season debut on September 4.

The announcement was made today during The Boys Comic-Con@Home Panel.

Additionally, it was revealed that Emmy Award-winning host Aisha Tyler will serve as host and executive producer of the official The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys.

In each episode of Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, members of the cast, creative team and other special guests will join Tyler as they dissect the events that unfold in each episode.

The aftershow will debut August 28 on Prime Video with a “look back” at the first season of “The Boys” ahead of Sept. 4 Season 2 premiere. Since the second season will launch with three episodes at first and then drop weekly after that, Amazon says the aftershow will “dive into each episode” as they roll out through the Oct. 9 season finale.

The first three episodes of the season will launch on Friday, Sept. 4, with the rest of the season rolling out weekly on the streaming service until the season finale on Oct. 9.

Eddie Foy III, a casting director who worked on such classic series as Happy Days, Cheers, M*A*S*H and The Monkees, and was a third-generation member of the legendary Foy show business clan, died November 3 in a fall at his home in Denison, Ia. He was 83.

The son of actor Eddie Foy Jr., he grew up around celebrities in New York City and did some acting in films and TV before segueing to casting in the 1970s. His grandfather, Eddie Foy Sr., headed the famed family vaudeville act Eddie Foy and the Seven Little Foys, which included Eddie Foy Jr., who continued a successful acting career into adulthood.

The vaudeville family’s story was told in the 1955 movie The Seven Little Foys starring Bob Hope and James Cagney.

Even with six Emmy Awards under her belt, Burnett is still immensely grateful at the recognition by the TV Academy, as well as audiences. “To have this happen now, it’s kind of unbelievable,” Burnett says. “I was happily surprised.”

The program, which is in contention for variety special, celebrated the 50th anniversary of “The Carol Burnett Show,” the variety series which ran from 1967 to 1978, and won 25 Emmys over the course of its run.

Carol Burnett claims that the thought of taking notes from network and advertising people and making changes killed the ABC pilot project she was working on last year.

The project, tentatively titled Household Name, would have been executive produced by Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler and written by Michael Saltzman. The comedy centered on a family who buys the house of their dreams, but with one stipulation – they must live with the previous owner, an eccentric actress that was to be played by Burnett.

So what happened with the show? “The pilot was very funny and the audience and everyone seemed to think “whee!”,” Burnett told the New York Post. “Then the network wanted to recast a couple of main parts … and wanted Michael Saltzman to add extra stuff they thought was funny — more of the family stuff and less of the oddball situation we were in.
