Trivia

Virginia Sale

Edit
  • Performed over 3,000 performances in a nationwide tour of a one-woman comedy-drama act.
  • Sister of actor Charles 'Chic' Sale.
  • Virginia Sale was a successful actress in radio, providing the voice of the housekeeper Martha in the serial "Those We Love", for eight years. She also won praise for her one-woman show "Americana Sketches", based on humorous recollections of her small town upbringing. She performed this act more than 6,000 times in the U.S., on tour in Europe, and for American troops during World War II. From the late 1950's, she concentrated primarily on doing commercials.
  • Studied for two years at the University of Illinois and graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
  • Chris Wren, son of Virginia Sale and her husband Sam Wren, became a child actor in the early 1940s.
  • Hatchet-faced American character actress who played hundreds of minor parts on film, radio and TV over the years, mostly spinsters and other old crones.
