Pink Parrot Unveils Flurry of Deals on German-Canadian CG Fantasy ‘Elli and Her Monster Team!’ (Exclusive)

Pink Parrot Media, the Montreal and Madrid-based international sales house, has revealed a flurry of deals for the German-Canadian CG animated fantasy feature “Elli and Her Monster Team!,” which is making its market premiere at the EFM.

Underlining the appetite for toon family features by European distributors, the film has been sold to Just Entertainment in Benelux, Bim Distribuzione in Italy, Nos Lusomundo in Portugal, Flins&Piniculas in Spain and Gpi for Baltics.

“Elli” has also been acquired by Pro Films in Bulgaria, Rocket Releasing for Cis, Forum (Czech Republic/Slovak), McF Megacom Film (Former Yugoslavia), Cinetel (Hungary), Forum for Poland, Romania and Israel, and Front Row in the Middle East.

In addition, Wild Bunch in Germany and Level Film and Maison 4:3 in Canada plan a “Elli and her Monster Team!” release by June.

Pink Parrot picks up international rights to animation 'Elli' (exclusive)
The project is based on the best-selling children’s book by Klaus Baumgart.

Marie Claude Beauchamp and Tania Pinto Da Cunha’s Montreal and Madrid-based Pink Parrot has picked up international rights Piet de Rycker and Jesper Møller’s 3D animated fantasy Elli, about a lonely ghost in search of a family.

Pink Parrot is also backing the project which is based on the best-selling children’s book by Klaus Baumgart.

UK animation outfit Red Kite boards 'Princess Emmy – The Movie'
Little Polar Bear director Piet de Rycker is helming the feature animation from Studio 100 Media.

UK outfit Red Kite Animation has boarded production of German family entertainment company Studio 100 Media’s ongoing feature-length animation project Princess Emmy – The Movie.

The film is directed by Piet de Rycker, whose previous credits include the franchises Laura’s Star, and Little Polar Bear.

It tells the story of a young princess who is severely put to the test and risks everything in order to win the right to possess a truly remarkable gift.

The feature – which has already been sold to 98 countries around the world – is set for a 2018 release.

“We are very pleased to be working on such a wonderful, delightfully charming property, with one of Europe’s most successful children’s and family media businesses and with talent such as Piet de Rycker”, said Ken Anderson, CEO of Red Kite Animation.

Three new animation features on Munich-based sales company’s Efm slate.

Munich-based Studio 100 Film has unveiled its Efm slate.

Piet De Rycker’s Princess Emmy - The Movie, Vic the Viking - The Movie and Blinky Bill - The Movie make up the slate for international distibution.

Blinky Bill is set for completion at end of Q2 2015, while both Princess Emmy and Vic the Viking are set for delivery in 2017.

A subsidiary of Studio 100 Media, Studio 100 Film is an international feature film sales agency for children and family entertainment films.

European animators mourn passing of producer-director Thilo Rothkirch.

The European animation community is mourning the passing of producer-director Thilo Graf Rothkirch at the age of 65 after a serious illness.

After studying Graphics Design in Kassel, Rothkirch worked as a graphics designer, storyboard artist, background artist, cartoonist, author and director in London and Bonn before setting up his own animation studio Rothkirch Cartoon Film in 1976.

With his wife Maya, he began working on an international level from an early stage and, thanks to the Media Programme and Cartoon, was instrumental in setting up one of the first animation studio groupings E-Toons with the UK’s Honeycomb Animation Studios and France’s Duboi.

Projects like the Feodor TV series and the feature film Tobias Totz and His Lion were made in collaboration with studios in Belgium, the UK and Germany.
