    Born Michel Alexandre Jean Lucien Galliéni, Michel de Ré was the grandson of French World War I hero Joseph-Simon Galliéni (1849-1916), who helped defeat the Germans at the Battle of the Marne (September 1914) by sending several regiments to the front in commandeered taxicabs.
