Bob Odenkirk's new action movie featuring a vacation from hell may have struggled at the box office this weekend, and did not exactly perform perfectly for critics, but it has landed right where it needed to with the people who matter the most: the audience. Opening on Friday, Nobody 2 currently holds a strong 90% approval rating from those who have ventured out to cinemas to see the John Wick-esque thriller. This may be a little lower than the 94% achieved by its predecessor in 2021, but it proves that once again Odenkirk is able to please his fans and action lovers everywhere.
Just like the original movie, which introduced Hutch Mansell, a man who is seen as one of life’s nobodies until he is pulled into a violent world in which he is shockingly able to give as good as he gets against a Russian adversary, while trying to...

Four years after the first Nobody film emerged as a sleeper hit at the box office, Universal has debuted a sequel. Nobody 2opened to mostly positive reviews this week, as it aims to outperform the original in its first weekend. The movie brings back Bob Odenkirk as a secret assassin who was reactivated in the first film after his family was threatened by a crime lord. The first Nobody earned positive reviews as well, and went on to gross $57 million at the worldwide box office, against a reported budget of $16 million. What made its performance all the more impressive was that it debuted in peak-pandemic 2021.
Nobody 2cost a reported $25 million to produce, but is off to a solid start thanks to positive reviews. It holds a “certified fresh” 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads, “While frumpy action-hero Hutch Mansell tries to enjoy a nice vacation, Bob Odenkirk...

A new action movie with heavy ties to the John Wick franchise is performing well on Rotten Tomatoes. The John Wick movies star Keanu Reeves in the title role as a retired assassin whose revenge mission after the murder of his dog takes him on a violent and grandiose adventure.
The franchise has so far lasted for four movies with various feature-length and episodic spinoffs. John Wick Director David Leitch also co-founded the company 87North productions (with Kelly McCormick), which largely focuses on ushering other Wick-esque productions to the screen.
The 87North roster includes the Christmas action-comedy Violent Night, the Brad Pitt actioner Bullet Train, the Mary Elizabeth Winstead-led Netflix movie Kate, the stunt-heavy Ryan Gosling movie The Fall Guy, and a new movie that has just earned a solid Rotten Tomatoes score.

Ilya Naishuller's "Nobody" exists in this tug of war between a "John Wick"-inspired bone breaker and a dark satire about an emasculated suburban dad who salivates at the thought of satiating his dormant bloodlust. It's a fun enough beat-em-up, with Bob Odenkirk giving more to Hutch Mansell than what's on the page. Even in its lulls, you can tell the "Better Call Saul" star really worked with the 87North stunt team to bring a level of physicality to his bloody brawls. With the 2021 film garnering mostly positive reviews and earning a decent success at the box office, it seemed all but inevitable that a sequel would be underway. Now that they've established that Hutch's family is well aware of their patriarch's deadly skills, it stands to reason that the next film would play on that.

Regular readers of mine and other reviewers are undoubtedly familiar with the complaint about “sequel drop-off.” Follow-ups trying to cash in on the popularity of the first rarely match the magic. In fact, that phenomenon is so common that disappointing scions usually get more of a sigh of resignation than outrage. The latter is saved for lame remakes and re-boots. The superfluous re-creations of The Bishop’S Wife and Mr. And Mrs. Smith come readily to mind as particularly odious. This one’s thankfully at the opposite end of the spectrum. Ain’t no drop-off to be found in Nobody 2.
I loved Nobody notably because of its surprise factor. Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) appears to be an ordinary suburban nebbish whose life is drab, drab, drab. Dull job; cookie-cutter cul-de-sac. An UNfunny Rodney Dangerfield on the respect scale.

Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad actor Bob Odenkirk says he is content with not returning to the iconic role. Odenkirk played Saul Goodman, the sleazy lawyer for Walter White (Bryan Cranston) through three and a half seasons, and then reprised the role for six seasons in the highly acclaimedBetter Call Saul.
Odenkirk is starring as Hutch Mansell in Nobody 2, the sequel to his 2021 film Nobody. Mansell, a former assassin turned family man, now has to resurrect his old skill set to fight off a Russian crime lord. Nobody 2 continues the violent stories of Hutch, also starring Connie Nielsen, RZA, and Colin Hanks.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the release of Nobody 2, Odenkirk said that while he enjoyed playing the role, both Goodman and his character from the film, Hutch Mansell, carried “impacted frustration” and that they were “hard to play after a while.” Odenkirk...

When we last saw Hutch Mansell — family man, former government assassin, and the formidable antihero of the 2021 action movie Nobody — he’d burned down his house, taken out most of the Russian Mafia, and resettled in another suburb. The world’s deadliest middle-aged dad also took a mysterious phone call, however, that suggested his retirement would once again be temporary. Plus everyone knows you can’t have a film series if you just stop at one. Given what star Bob Odenkirk went through shortly after the first one hit theaters,...

Ilya Naishaller’s Nobody derived most of its pleasures from the disconnect of watching a seemingly workaday father kick ass like John Wick. Now, Timo Tjahjanto’s Nobody 2 tries to turn the same trick—to diminishing returns. This is a breezier, goofier film, but it still feels as if there’s no real stakes to the proceedings, and that the filmmakers wholeheartedly believe that masculinity is inextricably connected to violence.
Sure, a couple of scenes make space for the subtheme of how fathers want their sons to be better than them. And the moment where Hutch (Bob Odenkirk)—after getting arrested for beating up a group of men, one of whom lightly pushed his daughter—tells his son, Brady (Gage Monroe), that there are better ways to deal with things than violence is amusing enough. But Nobody 2 isn’t a film that’s particularly interested in its characters,...

In the four years since director Ilya Naishuller’s Nobody was released, the film’s unlikely hero, “retired” assassin Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk), has been moonlighting in his old profession to pay off a long-standing debt. Now, in that film’s sequel, Nobody 2, as Hutch and his family embark on a critical family vacation to get away from his clandestine activities, he finds himself caught in an underworld conspiracy that he must help expose before he is able to put together his broken family and move on with his life.

Bob Odenkirk’s action franchise Nobody came out at a time when the audience was slowly making their way back to theaters post-pandemic. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, the movie’s success not only helped save the business to an extent but also shows the prowess of the action genre that never fails to entertain. Odenkirk’s silent and brooding performance was the cherry on the cake as fans want to see more of his mild-mannered family man turning into an assassin, and the sequel, Nobody 2, is already on its way.

‘Nobody 2’ Review: Bob Odenkirk Takes A Very Violent Family Vacation In Fun Action-To-The-Max Sequel
Hutch Mansell is back but his quest for some quality family time turns into a bloodier mess than fighting off the Russian mob in the first film.
Make no mistake, 2021’s sleeper hit, Nobody existed to count how many ways we could see its star Bob Odenkirk beat up bad guys. It instantly turned the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul star into an action hero of sorts, a sort of Liam Neeson spinoff with a touch of John Wick. Key to it working was the genuine humor and “Everyman” aspect of this guy, Hutch, whose itchy trigger finger is set off right from the start as low life burglars invade his house, and then battles bigger foes with the Russian mob. His family including wife Becca (Connie Nielsen), son Brady (Gage Munroe) and younger daughter Sammy (Paisley Cadorath) knew nothing of his secret life.
Now four years later in the sequel,...

Bob Odenkirk began his career in comedy, first making his mark as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 1987 to 1991 before he went on to write and perform in The Ben Stiller Show (1992), earning Emmys for both. Later, he co-created and starred in HBO's seminal sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David (1995–1998), earning three more Emmy nods.
Transitioning into dramatic work, Odenkirk achieved widespread acclaim for his portrayal as the unscrupulous criminal lawyer Saul Goodman, later Jimmy McGill, in both Breaking Bad and its prequel Better Call Saul. His performance in the latter earned him six Emmy nominations, and in 2024, he added another Emmy nod to his résumé for his guest role in The Bear.

The age of quality television was essentially launched on the backs of three shows, all of them built around totemic male figures who were perilously divided between their conventional middle-class family lives and their violent/erotomaniac sociopathic hidden selves. Bob Odenkirk, pinging off his role as the con artist/consigliere of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” plays out an extreme version of that same syndrome in the knowingly preposterous 2021 action thriller “Nobody” and its even more maximally heightened, ridiculous, and diverting sequel, “Nobody 2.”
Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell is a mild suburban family man who Odenkirk endows with the scruffy soul of an anxious downcast mutt, as if he were Steve Carell crossed with Kevin Costner’s sad-sack super-geek brother. Ilya Naishuller's 2021 action flick "Nobody" starred Bob Odenkirk as a boring office wonk named Hutch who has lost all the respect his wife and kid may have ever had for him. He's a nobody. Of course, the twist is that Hutch has, all this time, been a secret government-employed badass who is highly trained in fighting, firearms, and exciting action violence. He tries not to start fights because he could easily murder any potential attacker. By the end of the film, Hutch will have become involved in a plot of the Russian mafia, forcing him to fight back and kill dozens of people. More importantly, Hutch's family -- and most notably his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen) -- will see what a badass he's been this whole time.

However, his busy schedule has kept him away from his family, so he decides to take them on a vacation to a theme park he loved as a child — only to discover it’s a way station for a criminal syndicate run by the psychotic Lendina (Sharon Stone).

Had “Nobody 2” been released 20 years ago, it probably would have been made for half of its budget, featured exactly one actor from the first film reprising their role, and been pushed directly to DVD. Everything about the half-baked redux spiritually recalls the heyday of shovelware like “Cruel Intentions 2” or “The Little Mermaid 2,” movies that existed not because anyone had exciting ideas for where to take the stories of the Og texts they spawned from, but to crowd the aisles of your local Blockbuster and convince unsuspecting customers who vaguely enjoyed the original to pick it up and waste the rental fee.
This is not to imply “Nobody 2” is desecrating some classic text. The original movie, most notable for being one of the first films to do Ok at the box office as cinemas slowly reopened following Covid, was about middle-of-the-road average as an action comedy can get,...

I said it about Nobody when it was first released, and I’ll repeat it now — Nobody 2 cements itself as one of the most bone-crunching, knuckle-busting, and lip-splitting action franchises of the 21st century. So, did Tom Cruise save movies in 2022, or did he steal the title from Bob Odenkirk from the year prior?

Imagine National Lampoon’s Vacation crossed with First Blood and you have some idea of the delirious action comedy that is Nobody 2. This sequel to the 2021 surprise hit brings back the suburban family you’ve come to know and love, and like many a loving clan, they’ve got their share of problems. In particular, Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) and wife Becca (Connie Nielsen) are drifting apart, mainly because he’s working all the time to pay off their debts, and kids Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath) feel neglected.
Sounds perfectly ordinary, except for the fact that Hutch is a professional assassin with a special set of skills, and the debt he owes is $30 million dollars to the Russian mob after he made the mistake of burning their money in the last film. He’s tired, especially after an assignment goes harrowingly wrong in the film’s entertainingly over-the-top opening,...

Bob Odenkirk, Sharon Stone, Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd and RZA walked the red carpet at the Tcl Chinese Theatre on Monday night to celebrate the return of Hutch Mansell in the action thriller sequel Nobody 2.
Odenkirk stars as Hutch, a suburban dad and master assassin who’s like John Wick with a 401(k) and sensible shoes. The Better Call Saul star developed the character with screenwriter Derek Kolstad, based partially on his own experiences with an armed intruder breaking into his house. He told The Hollywood Reporter the secret to the success of his unlikely action hero.
“What matters to me is that you see the family and you relate to them; that you go, ‘That’s what I know, that experience, I know that feeling,'” Odenkirk explained. “So whether it’s taking the garbage out and missing the garbage truck or showing up at the hotel and...

We're still three days away from the release of Nobody 2, but early reactions to the action thriller sequel have given us a little insight into whether Bob Odenkirk's unlikely hero is still a hit with fans. Released in 2021, Nobody starred Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a former government assassin-turned office worker who reluctantly returns to his old life after becoming the target of a Russian crime lord. Grossing $57.5 million at the box office, the sequel was announced in 2022, and since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Odenkirk's everyman hero.
It appears as if the wait was worth it, as reactions to Nobody 2 on social media have praised the sequel and director Timo Tjahjanto for delivering even more "bone-cracking action." As critic Bill Bria puts it:
"Each setpiece has its own vibe thanks to Timo Tjahjanto, and the physicality of Bob Odenkirk is even more impressive than the first film.

Bob Odenkirk returns as suburban husband, father and workaholic assassin Hutch Mansell in the new chapter to the hit 2021 bare-knuckle action-thriller Nobody. The first film opened at number one at the U.S. box office upon its release. Can the second follow suit? Universal has just screened the fun-filled Nobody 2 for an audience. The follow-up to the original film that put a twist on the action genre has now twisted things even further as it plays out surprisingly like a violent send-up of National Lampoon’s Vacation. The reactions have hit social media.

Timo Tjahjanto is quickly becoming one of the most exciting action movie directors in the game following the likes of The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays. And he has revealed his unexpected choice for who could play the next Batman.
The filmmaker will next join forces with Jason Statham for the highly anticipated The Beekeeper 2, but, before that, he is teaming up with Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk for another action thriller follow-up, Nobody 2. Odenkirk revealed himself as one of the most mild-mannered action heroes to ever hit the big screen, and Tjahjanto thinks the Emmy Award winner has all the qualities necessary to portray an aged Dark Knight.
“You know, there's something about him, how he delivered his line. How he works with his face and like, he's just a very moody and dark sort of character. I'm not saying the real person.

Before making his fourth feature film, the action revenge thriller One Spoon of Chocolate, legendary rapper and music producer RZA was still, he confesses, unsure of himself as a filmmaker, feeling that he hadn’t yet mastered the process, the “rhythms” as he calls it, of being a director, at least not to the same comfort level he had with music.
After scaling the heights of hip hop as the de facto head of the Wu-Tang Clan, arguably the most influential rap group in history, RZA has found increasing success in film and television, firstly as an actor — he has starred in films like American Gangster (2007), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and Nobody (2021) and series like Californication — and more significantly with writing and directing. His directorial debut, 2012’s The Man With the Iron Fists, starred Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista and Lucy Lu. RZA followed that with Love Beats Rhymes, a musical drama starring Azelia Banks,...

2021 was a very bizarre year for the movie business. The box office was on straight-up life support after the 2020 shutdowns brought on by the pandemic. But Hollywood did try to bring audiences back to theaters, with blockbusters like "Godzilla vs. Kong" welcoming people back in a meaningful way. Then there were smaller movies like Universal's action/comedy "Nobody," which became a decent little hit for the studio, particularly while grading on the pandemic curve. Now, four years later, Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul") is back as Hutch in "Nobody 2." The question is, can the sequel succeed on its own terms in a radically different marketplace?
"Nobody 2" hits theaters next weekend and is currently looking at an opening in the $11 to $16 million range domestically, per Box Office Theory. While that's not exactly lighting the charts on fire, the original opened to a mere $6.8 million in North America before...

Nobody 2: Bob Odenkirk’s Family Getaway Turns Into An Explosive Showdown ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Four years after Hutch Mansell accidentally wound up dismantling a chunk of the Russian mob, he’s back, and this time, the chaos has a boarding pass. Nobody 2 storms into cinemas on 22nd August, 2025, with Bob Odenkirk once again slipping into the deceptively mild‑mannered shoes of the suburban dad who moonlights as a deadly assassin. This sequel seems much more entertaining than the prequel, with several new elements.
Nobody 2 Has a Fascinating Premise That is Super Promising!
The set‑up sounds simple enough: Hutch and his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen) are exhausted, distant, and in desperate need of a break. So they pack up the kids for a quick escape to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark, the spot where Hutch once vacationed with his brother Harry (RZA). The catch?...

At San Diego Comic-Con, Bob Odenkirk sat down with IGN to talk about his upcoming movie Nobody 2. During their chat, he shared some pretty wild and funny thoughts about which childhood TV and movie characters he would want to fight, and who he wouldn’t dare touch.
Odenkirk didn’t hold back. About The Brady Bunch, he said, “I would happily kill them, they don’t even have to do anything. Not the littlest girl I wouldn’t hurt, it’s not her fault she’s a Brady.” So, the youngest Brady is off limits, but the rest?
Not so much. Then he went after Alvin and the Chipmunks, saying he’d “step on them and crush them under my foot. You have to hear the bones and the gush inside their body, you’re gonna cheer.” That’s a pretty brutal mental image.

Bob Odenkirk is about to take a second stab at action stardom with Nobody 2, and if he has his way, it won't be the last time he plays Hutch Mansell. The Better Call Saul star wants to do multiple entries in the action franchise. He discussed it during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, hosted by Collider's Steve Weintraub.
While Hutch has tried to leave his days as a government-sponsored murder machine behind him, Odenkirk has plenty of ideas about getting him back into action while balancing his life with his family, and the film's balance of fantasy and reality:
"I somewhat boldly state that I think there could be four. I have ideas about where the character goes. The core sort of issue, which is, can you maintain, how can you live a civilized life, a family life, and then vent your worst rages on the world?...

'Nobody 2' Footage Has Bob Odenkirk Paying Tribute to Jackie Chan at Collider's Exclusive Sdcc Panel
Bob Odenkirk is only a few short weeks away from finally stepping back into the ass-kicking shoes of Hutch Mansell for Nobody 2. Before he sets off for his violent vacation in theaters, however, he swung by San Diego Comic-Con for a conversation with Steve Weintraub at Collider's Inside Hollywood panel. While the Better Call Saul star was there delivering some behind-the-scenes stories from his impressive career, we were also able to debut a convention-exclusive sneak peek at the carnage his workaholic assassin will be caught in during his attempts to have a normal family outing. Collider's Samantha Coley was in attendance, describing an action-packed and hilarious homage to the movies of Jackie Chan that's filled to the brim with fun gags.

On a warm summer night in the City of Brotherly Love, history was made as the Wu-Tang Clan took the stage for what was billed as their final show — and they went out in epic fashion. The Wells Fargo Center was electric with energy as thousands of fans gathered to witness the legendary hip-hop collective deliver a performance that was equal parts celebration, reflection, and unfiltered lyrical fire. Direct support for this tour came from Run The Jewels who also put on an electrifying performance.
From the moment the lights dimmed and the iconic opening chords of “Bring da Ruckus” echoed through the arena, it was clear that Wu-Tang wasn’t here to say goodbye quietly. With all living members present — RZA, Gza, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna — the group launched into a masterclass in hip-hop showmanship.
