During a virtual celebration on Saturday, the Society of Camera Operators (Soc) announced winners for the 2022 camera operator of the year awards in film and television categories.

The recipients for camera operator of the year in film are Mitch Dubin and “B” camera operator John “Buzz” Moyer for “West Side Story.” Manolo Rojas and “B” camera operator Pauline Edwards earned the camera operator of the year in television award — for their work in the “Snowfall” episode “Betrayal” (S4 E8).

Image
Warrants reveal more about timeline of fateful day.

The producers on Rust have confirmed that production will remain halted until the investigation into the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on set in New Mexico is complete.

A letter to crew sent on Sunday said the move was a “pause rather than an end”. The producers also expressed their sadness over Hutchins’s death and added they were supporting director Joel Souza, who was standing behind the cinematographer and injured in the shoulder. He has been released from hospital.

Meanwhile reports emerged on Monday evening (October 25) that according to an anonymous producer from 2019 production Freedom’s Path,...

‘Rust’ Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins Killed After Alec Baldwin Rehearsed Pointing Gun at Camera, Affidavit Says
Image
“Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed while Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene that involved the actor pointing a revolver in the direction of a camera lens, the film’s director Joel Souza said in an affidavit released Sunday that provides new details into the circumstances of the shooting.

Souza, who was also injured in the on-set accident, said that the cast and crew had been assured that Baldwin was handling a “cold gun,” meaning it had no live rounds. Safety protocols on the set required that the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, checked to make sure that the barrel was empty, with her work double-checked by “Rust” assistant director Dave Halls before the firearm was handed to the actors. Souza and Hutchins were standing behind the camera to see the angle. Baldwin was sitting on a wooden pew facing south towards the camera and crew, outfitted in Western garb.
