Of Ticino origin, actress Luisa Rossi was born in Milan in 1925. As of 1939, she worked for the Radio Svizzera Italiana and only four years later (Luisa was eighteen then) she landed her first part in a movie, Ho tanta voglia di cantare (1943). Some time later she was cast by Leopold Lindtberg's as the young Italian girl in what may be the most famous Swiss film ever, La dernière chance (1945). She went on working for the big screen until 1978 but , failing to capitalize on the critical acclaim she got for the latter movie, she mainly played supporting roles and in generally minor movies, the best being Duilio Coletti's Le loup de la Sila (1949), Joseph Losey's Un homme à détruire (1952) and Nanni Moretti's Ecce bombo (1978). A bit disappointed by her film career Luisa Rossi made up for it with television and the stage, where she was given the opportunity to collaborate with such great masters as Luchino Visconti, Giorgio Strehler and Dario Fo. Luisa Rossi unfortunately passed away at the too early age of 59.
