Exclusive: Bodhi Talent clients have abandoned the Manchester-based talent agency after founder Archie Purnell was accused of being a “rogue trader” in a Deadline investigation.

Several actors posted on Twitter (now X) about their decision to quit Bodhi following allegations that Purnell was sending clients fake self-tape audition invites and breaking regulations by paying actors late.

Purnell sent an email to clients on Thursday saying he was “heartbroken” at the claims, which he said were “false” and created by an individual who had previously attempted to “jeopardise my character.” He did not identify this individual in the email, which was co-signed by his business partner Ricky Cortis.

“To say I am heartbroken is an understatement, but as always, the truth will out. There is always two sides to every story,” Purnell wrote. “My legal time [sic] is currently dealing with it all and legal action is now being taken against all parties involved.

Actor Patrick J. Adams took to social media to apologize for sharing throwback photos during his time with Suits amid the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The actor, who played the lead role of Michael Ross, posted several photos during his time on the show. Several of his co-stars, including Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman, were featured in the photos.

His post broke SAG-AFTRA rules, as actors are not allowed to take part in promotional work for film and television. This includes directly or indirectly talking about past projects. Adams then deleted the posts and posted an apology on his Instagram stories.

“The last couple of days I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagaftra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st Century compensation and protections,” he said.

“Excuse me, that isn’t … is that … Suits?”

This was me at the barbershop a few Saturdays ago. I was fifth in line for a haircut and trying to focus on my new library book, but my attention kept being drawn to the TV set, which was not only showing the legal drama, which ran from 2011-19 on USA, but showing its very first episode. Though I didn’t watch the series for long, I remembered that debut very well, having reviewed it a dozen years and several websites ago.

Forgive us if we occasionally sound surprised or bemused in our coverage of the Suits streaming phenomenon. It’s just that an innocuous 2010s cable series suddenly becoming a monster hit on streaming is a fairly perplexing experience.

Streaming services like Netflix and Peacock, both of which host multiple seasons of Suits, spend untold millions trying to produce their own original hits only for a USA Network series from years ago to blow them all out of the water. Though all nine seasons of the series have been available to stream on Peacock for awhile now, the addition of the first eight seasons to Netflix on June 17 helped supercharge its popularity. According to Nielsen, Suits has broken streaming records with the number of minutes it was streamed across multiple platforms this summer. While Suits‘ “second phase” as a bona fide streaming phenomenon is an impressive achievement for any show with cable origins, there is still one more phase in the TV life cycle it needed to conquer: a spinoff.
