IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Sondra Rodgers was born in Trimble County, Kentucky in 1903. Raised on a farm outside the little town of Milton, Sondra had her heart set on the film world. She was 41 years old when she appeared in her first film, LOST IN A HAREM, in 1944. Recognized as an able character performer, Sondra appeared the following year as Helen Roberts in THE HIDDEN EYE and ANCHORS AWEIGH. The latter was with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly. After appearing with Lucille Ball in EASY TO WED in 1946 and TAP ROOTS in 1947 with Van Heflin and Susan Hayward, Sondra didn't appear in any more films until 1951's AS YOU WERE. While character appearances on the silver screen became rare, Sondra kept busy with TV series such as "Wagon Train", "The Twilight Zone", and "The Beverly Hillbillies". Sondra did make it back to the big screen as Dora in TAMMY AND THE DOCTOR in 1963 with Sandra Dee and Peter Fonda. Her final role was an uncredited part in 1975's AIRPLANE. On July 22, 1997 Sondra died of heart failure in Los Angeles, California. She was 94.
