Big things are afoot in the indie fantasy book space. Today is The Day of the Dragon, an event started by authors Ryan Cahill, Michael R. Miller, and Philip C. Quaintrell in 2023 to celebrate fantasy of the draconic variety. This event came out of a desire to give something back to readers who love books with dragons in them; the authors hosted sales, released tasty new merch, and generally fostered a sense of celebration in the fandom for all that dragons (and those who tell stories about them) have given us.
This is the second year for The Day of the Dragon, and Cahill is taking advantage of it to make a massive announcement: independent publisher The Broken Binding Press has acquired English worldwide print rights to his hit dragon-rider fantasy series The Bound and The Broken in a major six-figure deal, and will be releasing a brand new run...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 7.
Shin Hati's character in Ahsoka has intrigued viewers, inspiring incredible cosplay creations that capture her dark Jedi look. As Ahsoka season 1 nears its conclusion, Shin has one last chance for redemption, offered by Ahsoka herself. With her desire to be by Thrawn's side, Shin could become an important adversary in the conflict.
Ivanna Sahkno's Shin Hati has quickly become a favorite among viewers of Ahsoka, especially as the dark Jedi apprentice of Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll. The duo has been shrouded in mystery since their orange lightsabers first appeared in the earliest previews of the Star Wars Disney+ TV show, and with each new episode, more about them has unraveled - especially for Shin. As someone craving the power only a high rank from Grand Admiral Thrawn could promise, Shin's desires have strayed from her master's, and now she's set on her own path.

Carrie cosplay recreates the titular character covered in blood at prom. Stephen King's debut novel was adapted into the 1976 horror film directed by Brian De Palma which stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a shy and socially awkward girl with secret telekinetic abilities who is constantly bullied by her classmates at school. After Carrie is invited to her high school prom by a popular boy as part of a cruel prank, she uses her telekinesis to exact bloody revenge against all those who have wronged her.
Some new cosplay shared by photographer Tom Roberts (_photrography_ on Instagram) perfectly recreates the bloodied Carrie at prom, and it's just as haunting as the 1976 adaptation of King's classic novel. Check out the cosplay below:
