‘Tremors’ Creators Win Back Script Rights; Kevin Bacon Could Return for a New Installment!
Kevin Bacon, Finn Carter, and Fred Ward in Tremors (1990)
Stampede Entertainment, the team behind Tremors and its first three sequels, have won back the rights to the original script for the 1990 classic.

This allows director Ron Underwood, writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, and producer Nancy Roberts to have creative control over the future of the franchise after being shut out of Universal Studios’ three most recent sequels.

“We aren’t reading outside ideas. We are discussing a return-to-Perfection sequel, and one or two more outlandish ideas featuring graboids in new settings,” the team wrote on their website.

“Whatever we decide to pitch to Hollywood, it will not be a remake the first movie with a new cast. Nor will it be a version of our original script for Tremors 5.

Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
A script that sat on a shelf for ten years. A creative team that was told their opinions were not welcome. A location change from Australia to South Africa. Tremors 5: Bloodlines did not have a smooth, peaceful journey to the screen, but it did give us the chance to watch survivalist Burt Gummer fight Graboids again. And today, we’re going to find out What Happened to This Horror Movie.

The production company Stampede Entertainment was formed by S.S. Wilson, Brent Maddock, Nancy Roberts, and Ron Underwood, the team that was behind the classic 1990 monster movie Tremors, which was a Universal release. And when Universal decided they wanted direct-to-video Tremors sequels and a TV show, they turned to Stampede to provide them. As the new century began, Universal was keeping Stampede quite busy. Tremors 3 was released in 2001. Thirteen episodes of the TV series aired on Syfy in 2003. Tremors 4 was...

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004) – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The Tremors 4: The Legend Begins episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Ric Solomon, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

The subterranean creatures known as Graboids are prehistoric life-forms. And the first Tremors movie wasn’t the story of humanity’s first encounter with them. In fact, there was a series of Graboid attacks just one hundred years earlier. Four movies into the Tremors franchise, we got a prequel that took us back to the Old West for a tale of cowboys and monsters. It’s Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (watch it Here) – which turned out to be the least successful installment in the series. We’re going to try to figure out why in this episode of What the F*ck Happened to This Horror Movie!

The production...

Hello again, dear readers! We’re back for another look at this week’s horror and sci-fi home media releases, and there are quite a few titles headed home tomorrow. So, if you have any last-minute shopping you need to get done, there might be something listed here that could be helpful in that regard.

Probably the biggest release of this week is Arrow’s brand new 4K 2-Disc Limited Edition set celebrating one of the best monster movies ever, Tremors, and Warner is showing some love to The Curse of Frankenstein as well. In terms of recent horror, we have a ton of brilliant genre fare to pick from on Tuesday, including The Wolf of Snow Hollow, The Beach House, Don’t Look Back, and The Call, and Full Moon has resurrected Orgy of the Dead as well.

Suffice to say, there’s a little bit of something for everyone this week,...
