    • Preben J. Rist was born on January 10, 1885 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was an actor and director, known for Gobseck (1924), Die Heimatlosen (1918) and Maria Magdalena (1918). He died on February 12, 1967 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Trivia

  • In 1914 he got an engagement in Germany where he also became a demanded actor soon. In the next years he took part in numerous movies, however not all movies can be verified because he sometimes impersonated small roles.
  • The actor and director Preben Rist began his professional life as an insurance salesman, beside it he wrote first works as a writer. Afterwards he traveled around the world and experiences numerous adventures. When he returned to Denmark he was able to gain a foothold as a movie actor and he appeared in the movies "Ned Med Vaabnene (1914), "Nattens gaade" (1915) and "Den Vanaerede" (1915).
  • In Germany he was also able to realize first movies as a director.
  • He also continued his activity as a movie director and he shot "Karlchen auf der Wanderschaft" (1922), "Mignon" (1922) and "Gobseck" (1924). Afterwards Preben Rist retired from the film business and he returned to Denmark where he earned his living as a businessman.
  • At the beginning of the 20s Preben Rist impersonated again many roles in German silent movies, among them "Nirvana" (1920), Die Ratten" (1921),and "Der grosse Sensationsprozess" (1923).
