Son of cartoonist Mischa Richter (1910-2001).

Appeared with John Lennon and Yoko Ono in their 1972 Imagine video at Tittenhurst Park.

An avid mountaineer, he has climbed over 500 peaks in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Mexico.

At the time of his casting in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Richter was relatively unknown, working mainly as a mime, leading a troupe in London.
