    • Eugen Rex was born on July 8, 1884 in Berlin, Germany. He was an actor and director, known for Die Reise um die Erde in 80 Tagen (1919), Der blasse Albert (1919) and O alte Burschenherrlichkeit (1925). He died on February 21, 1943 in Spandau, Berlin, Germany.

Trivia

  • On stage from 1905. A busy stage performer during the 1910's. From 1919, primarily active in films, often in supporting roles as philistines or pedantic civil servants. Rex became a member of the Nazi Party in 1933 and was tasked with performing various administrative functions serving the regime.
  • Eugen Rex's name appeared for the first time on the screen for the movie "Die gestohlene Seele" in 1918. He wasn't scared at the idea of contact with the still new medium and he already directed his first movie in 1919 - an activity he carried on only rarely.
  • Eugen Rex showed first interest in theater with self-written one-act plays, at the same time he visited acting lessons.
  • To his well-known silent movies belong "Die Reise um die Erde in 80 Tagen" (1918), "Alt-Heidelberg" (1923) and "Der Stolz der Kompagnie/Die Perle des Regiments" (1926). During this time he also played for the theater and was able to perform some of his own plays.
  • As a member of the NSDAP he got different important jobs like "Führerrat der Reichsfachschaft Film" from the middle of the 30's.
