Following James La Curto, who originated the role, Frank Readick was the voice of the radio character, The Shadow, on Street & Smith Detective Story Hour. Orson Welles, his co-star in the "The War of the Worlds" broadcast, and in Voyage au pays de la peur (1943), also played The Shadow on radio.
