    Rea was killed just outside the city limits of Charlotte after the vehicle she was riding in struck a utility pole. The driver of the car, 40-year-old Glenn Eugene Helms, was critically injured. After leaving acting, she had turned to developing real estate in the Charlotte area, her hometown.
