A coffee table book, feature-length documentary, and new series spotlighting the behind-the-scenes players who bring Disney stories to life will debut in December.

The project was announced today at the D23 Expo by Ricky Strauss, president content & marketing for Disney, and Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts.

On February 21 of this year, 76 photo shoots took place around the world, as Disney dispatched photographers to capture images of the employees and cast members at the Walt Disney Company. From Shanghai Disneyland and ESPN to Pixar and the set of Modern Family, the photographs and the stories...

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

When I first learned I was going back to Pixar a few months ago, a smile immediately crossed my face. I had been there just once before, a few years back, but the facility and people at this Emeryville, California animation studio are so amazing, I was hoping for the chance to come back... practically right after the first visit. In late March, I ventured up to the Northern California studio to learn more about their animated sequel Cars 2, which races into theaters nationwide on June 24.

After a nice reception for the massive press corps assembled for this event, we were in for a little treat. Anyone who is familiar with Pixar knows the studio is just as well-known for their animated shorts as they are their animated features. Before every Pixar movie, the studio debuts a new short film, and Cars 2 is no different. While most of...

Moving on ‘Up’: Disney, Pixar Score Another Masterpiece in 3-D
Chicago – There is an art to music. There is an art to writing a story and an art to telling that story. There is art in a great drawing, a great painting and a great photograph. There is an art to communication. And it may only be a matter of time before museums expand to include a whole new category of modern art: the animated film from Disney and Pixar.

Rating: 4.5/5.0 For what the studio duo accomplished in 2008 with its “Wall-e,” which is known for its groundbreaking achievements in many of the above-listed categories, their newest film, “Up,” has also managed to ace much of the same. Though two very different films both strong for different reasons, the two establish the Disney and Pixar revolution of the animated genre.

A symphonic balance of captivating silence and clever dialogue, belly-laugh humor and tear-in-the-eye despair, fast-paced action scenes and scenes slowed for their precious detail,...
