- Ramsey is the son of (then) Lt. Cmdr. Logan Ramsey, who sounded the alarm at the start of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Ramsey Sr. was stationed on Ford Island in the middle of the harbor when the Japanese attacked at 7:55 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941. Ramsey's father was also responsible for sending one of the most famous messages in the history of radio when he sent: AIR RAID PEARL HARBOR, THIS IS NO DRILL immediately after sounding the alarm.
- He and his actress wife, Anne Ramsey, best known for her harridan film portrayals in Les Goonies (1985) and Balance maman hors du train (1987), formed Philadelphia's prestigious Theatre of the Living Arts.
- A stage veteran, he became typecast in films as redneck sheriff, racist or gutless villain.
- During World War II, Logan Ramsey Jr., served as an Ensign aboard the USS Block Island, CVE 106.
- Studied acting under famous acting coach Lee Strasberg.
