Dee Dee Ramone, Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Ramones, and Tommy Ramone

Trivia

Ramones

Edit
  • The Ramones are often credited for being the first punk rock band to exist.
  • The Ramones' 1976 self-titled debut is arguably considered the first-ever punk rock album to be released, predating debut albums by the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Jam and The Damned all by one year.
  • Ranked #88 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Rock & Roll.
  • Although all the members of the band used the surname "Ramone", none of them were actually related in any form. The use of the "Ramone" surname was inspired by Paul McCartney of The Beatles, who would often use the alias "Paul Ramone" while checking into hotels.
  • All four of the original members are deceased: Joey died in 2001, Dee Dee in 2002, Johnny in 2004 and Tommy in 2014. The only surviving members left in the Ramones as of 2021 are C.J. (who was Dee Dee's replacement on bass from 1989 to 1996), and the other three drummers Marky, Richie and Elvis (Clem Burke), who briefly replaced Richie in 1987.
  • Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
  • Ranked #17 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
  • Members have included Joey Ramone Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Marky Ramone, Tommy Ramone, Christopher Ward (aka C.J. Ramone) and Richie Ramone
