Manifest creator Jeff Rake reveals exciting new project (but it's not related to Flight 828)
Image
Ever since Manifest concluded with its fourth and final season on Netflix in June 2023, devoted Manifesters have been patiently waiting on word about the potentially in-the-work spinoff series. The show might have hit its own Death Date, but the fans haven't given up on Flight 828 and its passengers just yet. There's still a chance we could return to this supernatural world.

Most recently, Manifest creator Jeff Rake got fans all riled up on June 2, the Death Date, with a cryptic social media post. He simply shared the three words, "Not dead yet," and a sly emoji that sent Manifesters into a frenzy and hoping for some sort of announcement soon. Well, Rake shared an exciting announcement about a new project about a week later, but... It's not about Manifest.

'Manifest' Is "Not Dead Yet" at Netflix, Creator Teases
Image
One of the most popular science fiction shows on Netflix, a show which seemingly ended back in 2023, is apparently “not dead yet,” according to its creator. The streamer has become infamous for quickly and unceremoniously dropping the cancellation axe on TV shows before they get a chance to really find an audience. However, alongside this, the platform has also saved shows from other networks. And such was the case with the hit supernatural drama, Manifest.

Created by Jeff Rake and debuting its first season back in 2018, Manifest features a large ensemble cast that includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor, among others, and details the mystery behind Flight 828, which suddenly disappeared...before reappearing just as suddenly five years later.

Many of the passengers soon find themselves receiving “callings,” visions of the future, with brother and sister...

Manifest creator Jeff Rake shares cryptic three-word tease on Flight 828's Death Date
Image
Well, consider our curiosity piqued and our hopes all the way up! All it takes is one little social media post from Manifest creator Jeff Rake, which only consists of three words, for fans to have renewed faith that either season 5, a continuation movie, or some sort of spinoff could be in the works. Rake shared his message one year after the show's official Death Date, making it even more loaded.

On June 2, Rake took to social media and said: "Not dead yet." He included an emoji wearing sunglasses and the Manifest hashtag. Clearly, he's up to something, but we just don't know what he's up to yet. Ever since Manifest completed its run with the second half of its fourth and final season on June 2, 2023, Rake has been teasing a continuation.

The series finale was quite the jaw-dropping game-changer, as the Flight 828 passengers returned back to the day their flight took off.

Manifest season 5 gets new update from Warner Bros boss: ‘Never say never’
Image
Manifest, a supernatural drama, was initially cancelled after season 3 on NBC, but then Netflix revived it for a fourth and final season. The series had some flaws, but overall it was a great show with a superb cast. I watched it because it was a supernatural storyline with a semi-time travel aspect, which I'm a sucker for no matter what the storyline happens to contain.

But Manifest was a unique show in that they weren't supernatural beings or time travelers. Instead, they were passengers who vanished on Flight 828 for five years. During those years, their loved ones aged, some passed away, and others moved on, while the 828 passengers remained the same age and had no knowledge of time passing. In a twist of fate, the show ended where the story began years earlier in season 1.

Warner Bros. boss Channing Dungey, the chairman and CEO, gives an exciting update two years after the Manifest series finale.

How Did Manifest Go From Cancellation To Global #1 On Netflix?
Image
How was Netflix’s manifest saved? ( Photo Credit – Netflix )

In the ever-changing battlefield of streaming wars, Netflix Once again proven itself to be the fearless champion of lost causes. The platform, known for reviving abandoned fan-favorites, took up the sword this time for Manifest, a supernatural thriller that was left to fade into oblivion by NBC in 2021.

Manifest: From Cancellation to Resurrection

Much like its legendary intervention with Lucifer in 2018, Netflix stepped in at the perfect moment, breathing life back into a show that had been left on an agonizing cliffhanger.

The story, centered around a group of passengers who boarded a flight from Jamaica to New York only to land five years later, seemingly untouched by time, had captivated audiences. The eerie visions and unexplained phenomena they experience after their return only deepened the enigma, making NBC’s abrupt cancellation a bitter pill to swallow for fans.

NBC's New Crime Drama Gets Obliterated by Critics — But Audiences Don't Agree
Image
NBC's new crime drama series, The Hunting Party, did not have a strong debut with critics. However, after getting lambasted in most reviews, the series drew some praise from audiences.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Hunting Party initially debuted with a harsh, rare score of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. That number has since risen to 11%, getting minimal praise from critics as nearly every review is negative. The bright side is that the audience score is vastly different, ranking much higher at 70%. While critics are slamming the show for its "predictability" and "generic action" sequences, many viewers are comparing the show to Criminal Minds, seeing great potential in the series' future.

Manifest Spin-Off Still in Development According to Creator
Image
Fans of Manifest could see the Netflix series returning to screens with a spin-off confirmed to still be in development. Viewers were taken on a bumpy ride with the modern Lost-style fantasy-mystery series, and it may be surprising to some that it may not be over yet. Manifest was a huge success when it originally aired on NBC, but the story of the mystery of Flight 828 appeared to have been grounded before reaching a conclusion when the show was canceled after three seasons. However, Netflix came to the rescue and allowed creator Jeff Rake to conclude the story with a bumper 20-episode Season 4. While that brought the story to a close, Rake has now teased that a spin-off series is still in development, and it is his intention to make sure fans get to see it.

Manifest's Promising Spinoff Update Is Bittersweet After The Original Show's Ending

A recent update on the possibility of aManifestspinoff is bittersweet, especially given how the original series concluded. Is Manifest Based On A True Story? Real-Life Inspirations Explained
Image
Manifest is not based on a true story, but it is inspired by the unexplained disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, adding a realistic touch to its fictional narrative. The inclusion of the real-life tragedy enhances the relatability and stakes of the show, making it more captivating for audiences. The true story that inspired Manifest has also inspired other films, TV shows, and documentaries, showcasing the ongoing interest in the mystery of Flight MH370.

Despite the inclusion of several fantasy elements, many have wondered while watching if Manifest is based on a true story. The premise of Manifest centers on the strange vanishing (and sudden reappearance) of a commercial airline. For five years, the passengers onboard went missing from the world and returned without realizing that more than a few hours had passed. Lasting for three seasons before being abruptly canceled (and resurrected for a final fourth season by Netflix), Manifest...

The Perfect Manifest Replacement Came Out 9 Years Ago

Following the series finale of Manifest, fans should check out The Leftovers, a supernatural drama with a captivating central mystery and spiritual themes. Both Manifest and The Leftovers revolve around missing people and explore the profound impact of their disappearance on society. All three seasons of The Leftovers are available to stream on Max, providing a quick binge for those missing the NBC/Netflix show.

Now that Manifest is over, viewers can turn to another television series that will fill the void left by the show's absence. The NBC supernatural drama series (which was picked up by Netflix for a fourth and final season after the network canceled it) was unique in many ways, especially concerning the mystery that drove the narrative forward throughout all 62 episodes. However, another show contains similar elements, including an intriguing central mystery, that Manifest fans are sure to love following the series finale on Netflix.

Manifest's Ending Would Have Been Even More Divisive In The Original Six-Season Plan
Image
The ending of Manifest proved to be divisive, showcasing the potential problems that would have arisen if the creators had stuck to their original six-season plan. Despite criticisms of the final season, it's a good thing that Manifest didn't continue for another season, as it would have amplified the issues present in season 4. Manifest's series finale received mixed reactions due to its failure to tie up many loose ends and address all the mysteries introduced throughout its run.

Manifest concluded with its two-part season 4 on Netflix, but the show's ending proved divisive — and its problems highlight how much worse the creators' original six-season plan would have been. After more than 60 episodes of solving "callings" and investigating the disappearance of Flight 828, the Stone family gets a surprisingly happy ending. It requires them to board the plane yet again, this time for a judgment of sorts. When the flight is over,...

How Manifest Can Continue After Season 4 (& What It'd Be About)
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4 part 2

Manifest is over, but its final episode created potential for a spinoff. With all the mysteries raised by Flight 828’s disappearances, and the many developments that followed, tying up its loose ends was a tall order for the final season. In the end, Manifest succeeded in providing resolutions to its biggest storylines, but that on its own doesn’t mean a continuation would be pointless.

Though Manifest ultimately fell two seasons of showrunner Jeff Rake’s six-season plan for the series, the show still told the complete story of the Flight 828 passengers. They figured out who was responsible for Flight 828’s disappearance, why it happened, what the Callings were, and perhaps most importantly, they managed to stop the Death Date. By averting a volcanic apocalypse and causing the timeline to reset, the passengers were able to step off the airport in 2013, as if nothing ever happened.

Manifest Season 4 Deleted Scene: Captain Daly's Fate Revealed After Series' Ending
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4, part 2

A deleted scene from the Manifest series finale has revealed the fate of Captain Daly. After everyone aboard Flight 828 was judged, the plane landed in New York City in the year 2013. One notable absence was Captain Daly, who was not among the passengers who had been deemed worthy and now have a fresh start in 2013.

Series creator Jeff Rake has now shared a deleted scene that shows what happened to Daly in Manifest season 4, part 2.

In case you thought we forgot about Daly…#Manifest pic.twitter.com/p5fygYUI6E — Jeff Rake (@jeff_rake) June 13, 2023

When Robert Vance opens up Flight 828's cockpit to see if anyone flew the plane other than Amuta, a shocked and confused Daly is seen inside. His body begins crumbling before disintegrating entirely, which is the same fate that befell Angelina, Randall, and the others aboard Flight 828 who were deemed unworthy.

June 2, 2024, aka the Death Date, has finally arrived, and Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh), Ben Stone (Josh Dallas), and Saanvi Bahl (Parveen Kaur) rush to tip the scales of the lifeboat in their favor before the Passengers of Flight 828 meet their final judgment.

For Manifest's Passengers, Forgiveness Is Key

Perhaps the most surprising part of the series finale was that despite what Michaela, Ben and Saanvi have been preaching for four seasons, following the Callings isn't what saves the lives of the Passengers of Flight 828. Instead, it seems that forgiveness is the deciding factor, which Season 4, Episode 18, "Lift/Drag,...

Why Manifest Season 5 Isn't Happening
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4, part 2

Manifest season 5 isn’t in the cards for Netflix. Instead, the Manifest season 4 part 2 finale marked the final appearances of Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and all the other Flight 828 passengers. The second batch of ten episodes brought the journeys of the show’s principal characters to a dramatic close.

Everything that the passengers have been working toward in the last five and a half years culminated in one final challenge in the Manifest season 4 part 2 finale. The day they’ve been dreading for years – June 2, 2024 – finally came, and forced the characters to take a ride on a resurrected Flight 828 under the threat of a volcanic apocalypse. Subsequently, every passenger on board had to face judgment, and not all escaped unscathed. But the Death Date was beaten and a new chapter in the passengers’ lives was created. This ended Manifest’s story, which won’t be back for a fifth season.

Josh Dallas Talks ‘Manifest’ Finale and Future: “There’s Major Sequel or Spinoff Potential”
Image
The missing-plane drama Manifest has had a hell of a ride. First came the now infamous cancellation by NBC, followed by months of uncertainty over the show’s remaining two seasons and then culminating in a last-minute, 20-episode order from Netflix. The second half of the abbreviated final season will hit the streamer June 2 — right in the middle of the WGA strike that prohibits its prolific writer-showrunner, Jeff Rake, from promoting the series.

He spoke to THR — while enjoying his time at home in L.A. with his wife, actress Ginnifer Goodwin, and their two young children after five years of production in New York — about Manifest‘s marquee ending and the state of episodic television going forward.

The series was technically canceled by NBC in June 2021, but managed to find a home on Netflix after a successful fan campaign proved to be the show's saving grace.

"What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime," "Manifest" showrunner Jeff Rake said in a 2021 press release. "Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life. That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers,...

'Manifest's Series Finale Will Be Its Biggest Episode Yet
Image
The end is nigh for Manifest's 828 passengers, as the second half of Season 4 is ready to take flight this June. Following the apocalypse-sized revelations in Part 1, Ben Stone (Josh Dallas), his sister Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), and the others must rush to protect the passengers and stop Angelina (Holland Taylor) lest the entire world end. If viewers thought Part 1 was intense, creator Jeff Rake teased that the series finale is on a level of its own.

Sorry, But This 'Manifest' Character Is the Worst One
Image
Created by Jeff Rake, Manifest returned for its fourth season — after being untimely canceled at NBC and revived, quite like the passengers themselves, at Netflix for one final 20-episode season — two years after the death of matriarch Grace Stone (Athena Karkanis) with brother-and-sister duo Ben (Josh Dallas) and Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) split in their priorities. As Michaela carried the weight of the passengers’ lifeboat, Ben desperately searched for his daughter Eden, who was kidnapped by Grace’s murderer Angelina (Holly Taylor). Throughout the first half of Season 4, Angelina proves herself a true villainess capable of terrible things, blinded by what she believes to be God communicating directly with her regarding the forthcoming apocalypse. However, while Angelina may be the undeniably awful and irredeemable antagonist, there’s one character whose actions over the last three and a half seasons have proven them to be the worst, despite the series continually...

‘Manifest’ Sets June Date for Netflix Finale — Watch the Teaser
Image
After being saved from a crash-landing by Netflix just two years ago, “Manifest” has just about reached its final destination. The NBC supernatural drama-turned Netflix original will premiere the back half of its fourth and final season on June 2, the streamer announced Friday. The news was accompanied by a teaser for the final episodes.

Created by Jeff Rake, “Manifest” debuted on NBC in September 2018. The show was a ratings success in its first season, attracting 10.3 million viewers for its pilot episode. The show’s numbers steadily declined across its following two seasons, and NBC pulled the plug on the drama in June 2021.

Although that cancellation would typically be the end of the series’ flight plan, “Manifest” unexpectedly found a new set of wings on Netflix. The streaming giant added all three “Manifest” seasons the same month NBC grounded the drama; the show quickly found an entirely new audience on the streamer,...

‘Manifest’ Season 4 Final Episodes Set June Premiere on Netflix
Image
Happy death date: Netflix’s “Manifest” Season 4, Part 2 is set to premiere on June 2, nearly eight months after Part 1’s release in November 2022. The supernatural drama series returns with its final 10 episodes that continue the stories of Montego Air Flight 828 passengers who are making the most of their second lease on life.

The first episode of Season 4, Part 2 will premiere at the Atx TV festival in early June, followed by an in-person panel with showrunner Jeff Rake and cast members.

The return of “Manifest” coincides with the show’s infamous “death date,” June 2, which has been a recurring mystery throughout the series. It was first assumed by 828 passengers that June 2, 2024 marked the day they would lose their lives, but this season revealed it to be much more serious than that, with the “death date” marking the end of the world.

“Passengers face severe scrutiny in a world fueled by 828er hate,...

WGA Members Speaking Out In Support Of Strike Authorization
Image
Ryan Martinez, formerly a staff writer on Netflix’s Manifest and a graduate of the Warner Bros Television Writers’ Workshop, is a Harvard grad, a lieutenant in the U.S. naval reserves, and a combat vet who served in the war in Afghanistan. But now he says he’s returning to active duty in the Navy this summer “just to pay the bills,” which is why he’s voting “Yes” to authorize a WGA strike.

Many other WGA members, including Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Daniel Kwan, are also speaking up on social media in support of the strike authorization vote, which begins Tuesday and runs through April 17.

“I am voting Yes because the state of the industry for lower and mid-levels is dire,” Martinez writes on #WGAStrong, one of the guild’s Twitter accounts. “Like many, the well dried up after my first staff job, even being a WB alum.

Manifest Season 4, Part 2: Cast, Story Details & Everything We Know
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4, part 1

Manifest season 4, part 2 will serve as the long-awaited conclusion to the five-and-a-half-year journey of the Flight 828 passengers. After three seasons on NBC, Manifest has been given an opportunity to finish its story with one last season. While it’ll fall two seasons short of showrunner Jeff Rake’s original six-year plan, it’ll still provide a proper ending to the series NBC canceled. Here's the latest Manifest season 4 part 2 news.

In ten episodes, Manifest season 4’s first half dropped a handful of bombshells on both the viewers and the characters. Surprisingly, the series has already explained what the Callings are, where they come from, and what the passengers are actually supposed to do with them. They even have an idea of what’s going to happen when the Death Date arrives on June 2, 2024. But while Manifest season 4, part 1 was packed with answers, the actual...

Manifest Season 4 Tease Sets Up A New Power For Michaela
Image
A tease for Manifest season 4, part 2 sets up Michaela gaining a new ability in the series. Every character to return and disappear in Manifest comes back with the Callings, and Michaela, of course, is no exception. There are some, though, who eventually develop their own abilities.

Manifest’s story has seen a handful of the show’s characters form unique connections to the Callings that separate them from the rest of the passengers. After years of receiving remarkably precise Callings and translating them into almost prophetic artwork, Cal somehow figured out how to pull people into his own Callings in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale. Marko, a passenger experimented on by the Major, possessed a similar ability. Most recently, Angelina gave herself divine powers by stealing an Omega Sapphire and seemingly has a piece of it burned into her skin. As for Ben, Michaela, and the rest of the passengers,...

Manifest Fulfilled Netflix’s Biggest Season 4 Promise
Image
Netflix's biggest promise for Manifest season 4 has been fulfilled. While fans were understandably elated at the idea of the canceled NBC series getting new life on Netflix, there were some reservations about what the move to a streaming platform would mean for Manifest's final season. However, remarks made by showrunner Jeff Rake built hope that changes would be minimal.

For many shows, a series moving from network TV to Netflix can be a huge adjustment in more ways than one. In addition to the benefit of a larger budget, Netflix shows aren't held back by the same restrictions as network television in terms of how mature it can get with its material. It gives shows the freedom that networks like NBC, ABC, Fox, and CBS can't offer when it comes to violence, nudity, and language. With Manifest getting a chance to tell the final chapter of its story on the streaming service,...

Stephen King Is Having A Great Time Watching Manifest On Netflix
Image
Stephen King is enjoying the latest season of Manifest on Netflix. The supernatural series about flight passengers who land after severe turbulence only to discover they have all mysteriously been missing and presumed dead for 5 years originally premiered in 2018 on NBC. After three seasons, the network canceled the show, and it subsequently became available for streaming on Netflix. After the show's popularity skyrocketed on the platform, Netflix picked it up for one more season in 2021. The fourth and final season will air in two parts, with the first recently premiering on November 4.

Stephen King now shares his enthusiasm for for Manifest season 4 on Twitter. In a recent tweet, he praises the show with a twist of his signature sense of humor. "I’m 6 episodes into Manifest (Netflix). It’s like reuniting with old friends you thought were gone forever," writes King, alluding to both the parallels between the series' unanticipated...

Watch the Manifest Cast React to That Season 4 Part 1 Cliffhanger
Image
The NBC-turned-Netflix series Manifest finally returned with the first part of Season 4 earlier this month. The drama series primarily follows Ben Stone and his family after they mysteriously disappeared on Flight 828 for five and a half years. Season 4 picks up two years after the Season 3 finale. In true Manifest fashion, the Part 1 finale left viewers on a giant cliffhanger leading into Part 2. While viewers live with that on their minds, the cast reacted to the final minutes of the episode, including Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, Matt Long, Jr Ramirez, Ty Doran, Parveen Kaur, Daryl Edwards, Holly Taylor, Luna Blaise, and showrunner Jeff Rake.

Manifest Still Hasn’t Solved Cal’s Age Mystery: What The Answer Could Be
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4, part 1

Manifest explained what happened to Cal, but provided no answers to the character’s age mystery. Jack Messina’s Cal Stone suddenly being recast with Ty Doran was easily one of season 3’s biggest loose ends heading into the show’s fourth and final season. In the months between seasons, numerous theories have offered possible explanations for the shocking twist.

Manifest season 4’s first batch of episodes explored Cal’s disappearance in great detail and actually allowed for some illuminating reveals tied directly to the show’s biggest mystery. As it turns out, touching the tailfin took Cal into the divine consciousness that made the plane disappear. In fact, where he went was the same place that the Flight 828 passengers went to in 2013. Not only that, but Captain Daly and Fiona were there too, which enabled the series to address multiple mysteries at once.

Can Manifest's Angelina Be Redeemed By Series Finale? Creator Responds
Image
Warning: Some Spoilers lie ahead for Manifest season 4 part 1.Manifest's creator, Jeff Rake, is addressing whether Angelina can be redeemed by the series finale. The supernatural drama premiered on NBC back in 2018 and follows the mystery surrounding the passengers and crew on board Montego Air Flight 828, who suddenly emerge after being presumed dead for over five years. Despite a slight drop in ratings over its first three seasons, the show's cancelation came as a surprise to many, though fans rejoiced when their campaign efforts led to Netflix renewing it for a final installment. Manifest season 4 part 1 debuted in early November and audiences witnessed a lot of shocking developments, including Angelina (Holly Taylor) becoming more of a threat and endangering lives by taking the Omega Sapphire's powers and initiating an apocalypse.

In an interview with The Wrap, Rake touches on if Angelina can be redeemed after the recent events of Manifest...

Manifest Season 4's Big Death Explains A Season 1 Mystery
Image
Manifest season 4’s biggest death solves a mystery that dates back to the show’s first season. After setting up Cal to meet an untimely end, the series pulled a twist and killed off Matt Long’s Zeke Landon in his place. Using his empathic powers to absorb Cal’s cancer, Zeke made the ultimate sacrifice. Following the release of Manifest season 4, part 1 on Netflix, showrunner Jeff Rake confirmed the character’s fate.

What became of Zeke in Manifest makes sense of a reveal from season 1’s “Cleared For Approach.” Shortly after meeting Zeke, Michaela discovered a stunning connection between her and Zeke. Not only did they have Callings that drew them to each other, but they saw a petrograph in the show that inexplicably resembled the two of them. Ever since then, it’s been understood that Zeke had a special role to play, though the details of this were unclear at the time.
