One of the most popular science fiction shows on Netflix, a show which seemingly ended back in 2023, is apparently “not dead yet,” according to its creator. The streamer has become infamous for quickly and unceremoniously dropping the cancellation axe on TV shows before they get a chance to really find an audience. However, alongside this, the platform has also saved shows from other networks. And such was the case with the hit supernatural drama, Manifest.

Created by Jeff Rake and debuting its first season back in 2018, Manifest features a large ensemble cast that includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor, among others, and details the mystery behind Flight 828, which suddenly disappeared...before reappearing just as suddenly five years later.

Well, consider our curiosity piqued and our hopes all the way up! All it takes is one little social media post from Manifest creator Jeff Rake, which only consists of three words, for fans to have renewed faith that either season 5, a continuation movie, or some sort of spinoff could be in the works. Rake shared his message one year after the show's official Death Date, making it even more loaded.

On June 2, Rake took to social media and said: "Not dead yet." He included an emoji wearing sunglasses and the Manifest hashtag. Clearly, he's up to something, but we just don't know what he's up to yet. Ever since Manifest completed its run with the second half of its fourth and final season on June 2, 2023, Rake has been teasing a continuation.

The series finale was quite the jaw-dropping game-changer, as the Flight 828 passengers returned back to the day their flight took off.

Manifest, a supernatural drama, was initially cancelled after season 3 on NBC, but then Netflix revived it for a fourth and final season. The series had some flaws, but overall it was a great show with a superb cast. I watched it because it was a supernatural storyline with a semi-time travel aspect, which I'm a sucker for no matter what the storyline happens to contain.

But Manifest was a unique show in that they weren't supernatural beings or time travelers. Instead, they were passengers who vanished on Flight 828 for five years. During those years, their loved ones aged, some passed away, and others moved on, while the 828 passengers remained the same age and had no knowledge of time passing. In a twist of fate, the show ended where the story began years earlier in season 1.

In the ever-changing battlefield of streaming wars, Netflix Once again proven itself to be the fearless champion of lost causes. The platform, known for reviving abandoned fan-favorites, took up the sword this time for Manifest, a supernatural thriller that was left to fade into oblivion by NBC in 2021.

Manifest: From Cancellation to Resurrection

Much like its legendary intervention with Lucifer in 2018, Netflix stepped in at the perfect moment, breathing life back into a show that had been left on an agonizing cliffhanger.

The story, centered around a group of passengers who boarded a flight from Jamaica to New York only to land five years later, seemingly untouched by time, had captivated audiences. The eerie visions and unexplained phenomena they experience after their return only deepened the enigma, making NBC’s abrupt cancellation a bitter pill to swallow for fans.

NBC's new crime drama series, The Hunting Party, did not have a strong debut with critics. However, after getting lambasted in most reviews, the series drew some praise from audiences.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Hunting Party initially debuted with a harsh, rare score of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. That number has since risen to 11%, getting minimal praise from critics as nearly every review is negative. The bright side is that the audience score is vastly different, ranking much higher at 70%. While critics are slamming the show for its "predictability" and "generic action" sequences, many viewers are comparing the show to Criminal Minds, seeing great potential in the series' future.

Fans of Manifest could see the Netflix series returning to screens with a spin-off confirmed to still be in development. Viewers were taken on a bumpy ride with the modern Lost-style fantasy-mystery series, and it may be surprising to some that it may not be over yet. Manifest was a huge success when it originally aired on NBC, but the story of the mystery of Flight 828 appeared to have been grounded before reaching a conclusion when the show was canceled after three seasons. However, Netflix came to the rescue and allowed creator Jeff Rake to conclude the story with a bumper 20-episode Season 4. Over one year after Manifest ended in June 2023 with its series finale on Netflix, creator Jeff Rake offered a highly anticipated update for Manifesters. Since the beloved supernatural drama series concluded on its June 2 "death date," fans have been holding out hope for a spinoff series that picks up with some of the show's loose threads. Well, that's still an option on the table!

On Aug. 28, a.k.a. 828 day to those who celebrate, Rake shared a message to the Manifesters on social media that continued to stoke their excitement for a potential spinoff series. Manifest is over, but its final episode created potential for a spinoff. With all the mysteries raised by Flight 828’s disappearances, and the many developments that followed, tying up its loose ends was a tall order for the final season. In the end, Manifest succeeded in providing resolutions to its biggest storylines, but that on its own doesn’t mean a continuation would be pointless.

Though Manifest ultimately fell two seasons of showrunner Jeff Rake’s six-season plan for the series, the show still told the complete story of the Flight 828 passengers. They figured out who was responsible for Flight 828’s disappearance, why it happened, what the Callings were, and perhaps most importantly, they managed to stop the Death Date. By averting a volcanic apocalypse and causing the timeline to reset, the passengers were able to step off the airport in 2013, as if nothing ever happened.

A deleted scene from the Manifest series finale has revealed the fate of Captain Daly. After everyone aboard Flight 828 was judged, the plane landed in New York City in the year 2013. One notable absence was Captain Daly, who was not among the passengers who had been deemed worthy and now have a fresh start in 2013.

When Robert Vance opens up Flight 828's cockpit to see if anyone flew the plane other than Amuta, a shocked and confused Daly is seen inside. His body begins crumbling before disintegrating entirely, which is the same fate that befell Angelina, Randall, and the others aboard Flight 828 who were deemed unworthy.

Manifest season 5 isn’t in the cards for Netflix. Instead, the Manifest season 4 part 2 finale marked the final appearances of Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and all the other Flight 828 passengers. Everything that the passengers have been working toward in the last five and a half years culminated in one final challenge in the Manifest season 4 part 2 finale. The missing-plane drama Manifest has had a hell of a ride. First came the now infamous cancellation by NBC, followed by months of uncertainty over the show’s remaining two seasons and then culminating in a last-minute, 20-episode order from Netflix. Part two of the final season of Manifest will arrive on Netflix on June 2, 2023. Netflix announced the upcoming release of Manifest season four part two on April 7th at 8:28am Pt in honor of the day Montego Air Flight 828 took off. The release of the show’s final 10 episodes is set for the passengers’ expected death date.

“I love it,” said Manifest creator Jeff Rake. “Netflix has been geeking out on Manifest mythology since the moment they took over the show. It warms my heart.”

The supernatural drama series returns with its final 10 episodes that continue the stories of Montego Air Flight 828 passengers who are making the most of their second lease on life.

The first episode of Season 4, Part 2 will premiere at the Atx TV festival in early June, followed by an in-person panel with showrunner Jeff Rake and cast members.

The return of “Manifest” coincides with the show’s infamous “death date,” June 2, which has been a recurring mystery throughout the series. It was first assumed by 828 passengers that June 2, 2024 marked the day they would lose their lives, but this season revealed it to be much more serious than that, with the “death date” marking the end of the world.

Netflix has set the release date for the final episodes of “Manifest” and the end is imminent.

“Manifest” Season 4 Part 2, which split its 10-episode season into two parts, will premiere Friday, June 2, 2023 with the remaining five episodes of the series. Season 4 Part 1 dropped Nov. 4, 2022 with the first five episodes.

The release marks the conclusion of the sprawling sci-fi series, which was saved by Netflix after it faced cancellation by NBC after three seasons.

“Manifest,” which stars Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas, among others, follows the unexplained events plaguing passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 after their several hour flight landed them into a new reality five years after the plane first took off.
