Biography

Christopher, whose real name is Christopher Bell, was born in 1957 in Station Street, Middlesborough has an older sister, Sue and a younger sister, Terry. He did judo at 10, gymnastics at 13. He was educated at Brookside Scool in Middlesborough and did drama at night classes at Kirby College.. He became a fitter at Smiths Docks saw an advert for dancers at Bailey's night club in Stockton on Tees and got a job at 18. He moved to London for a career as an actor/dancer.

While working as a fitter at Smith's Dock in Middlesborough he was also training as a gymnast and trainIng at Billingham Theatre School then took a job as a dancer at Bailey's night club in Stockton. At 18 he left the area and moved to :London with the intention of breaking into the big time in London. Two years later, now called Chris Quinten he landed the part of Brian Tilsley in Coronation Street. Duringn the mid 80's he was usually always seen in the company of glamorous women, faced bankruptcy proceedings and tried his hand at pop singing. In October 1988 he announced that he was going to marry American TV interviewer Leeza Gibbons and move to America which meant the end of 10 years on Coronation Street,
