    • Irene Purcell was born on August 7, 1896 in Whiting, Indiana, USA. She was an actress, known for The Passionate Plumber (1932), The Man in Possession (1931) and C'est mon gigolo (1931). She was married to Herbert Fisk Johnson Jr.. She died on July 9, 1972 in Racine, Wisconsin, USA.

  • Lived in a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
  • Primarily a stage actress, who appeared in a few 30's Hollywood films. Best known as Robert Montgomery's leading lady in The Man in Possession (1931).
  • In the 1940's, she sold Fancy Rock Island (off Rockport shores) to another actress, Joan Marlowe, for $1 million. Subsequently, later she married Herbert F. Johnson, the chairman of the Johnson Wax Company and moved to Wisconsin to live in a 14,000 square foot home designed by renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
