The Voice’s Michael Bublé Reignites Elvis Presley vs Frank Sinatra Feud With One Finale Performance
Image
The Voice Season 27 is coming to an end tomorrow, and the viewers are bracing themselves to find out if their favorite artist will take the cake or if their votes will go to waste. From Michael Bublé to Adam Levine, every coach this year has one artist from their team in the Top 04. The contestants gave it their all during the first part of the finale and are getting ready to perform a live duet with their respective coaches.

While that will be fun to see, night one was nothing less than Michael Bublé pulled off an incredible performance, supposedly blending the distinct styles of two of the biggest names in the music industry – Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley.

Image
Who was the first celebrity to appear with the Muppets? After all, the Muppets have a long history of performing alongside some of the biggest names from all manners of entertainment: film, television, Broadway, music, dance, and more. While most associate celebrity appearances with The Muppet Show (1976-1981), the truth is that working with the Muppets continues to be a draw for the stars of stage and screen. But who was first? If you said Juliet Prowse you are achingly close. Prowse was the first celebrity to appear on The Muppet Show. If you said Mia Farrow, congratulations! Yes, Ms. Farrow actually has that honor, and a good two years before Ms. Prowse.

Horror Highlights: Mezco’s Scarred Chucky Burst-a-Box, Miss Leslie’S Dolls and Who Killed Teddy Bear Coming to Blu-ray in the UK, Q&A with Inhumanity Director Joe McReynolds
Today's Horror Highlights kicks things off with the doll, the myth, the legend: Chucky! Mezco Toyz presents a twisted version of a jack-in-the-box with this scarred Chucky Burst-a-Box. Also in today's Horror Highlights is a grindhouse extravaganza, as we cover the UK Blu-ray releases of Miss Leslie's Dolls and Who Killed Teddy Bear, starring Sal Mineo (Rebel Without a Cause), and we also have a Q&A with director Joe McReynolds for the grindhouse-inspired Inhumanity.

Scarred Chucky Burst-a-Box Details: "Introducing Mezco’s Burst-a-Box! A pop culture-infused twist on one of the most beloved, classic toys, the jack-in-the-box.

The Bride of Chucky Burst-a-Box features Scarred Chucky – the infamous homicidal doll containing the soul of a serial killer.

Approximately 14” tall when “popped”, the Burst-a-Box is a finely detailed tin music box that encases a detailed sculpt and clothed spring character.

Designed after his appearance in the film, Chucky features a scarred head...

Interviews: Barbara Feldon, Bernie Kopell ‘Get Smart’ at The Hollywood Show
Chicago – The TV show “Get Smart,” which had its original run on the NBC network from 1965-1970, was an oddball classic. Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, the sitcom was a goofy satire on cold war politics of the 1960s, with a hapless operative named Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) working for the Control agency, spying against a foreign menace called Kaos. Barbara Feldon (Agent 99) and Bernie Kopell (Sigfried) were part of the supporting cast.

Feldon and Kopell were also part of The Hollywood Show, a two day gathering of favorite TV and movie stars to meet fans and sign autographs. The next show in Chicagoland will be at the Hilton Rosemont on September 7th and 8th, 2013 (details below the article). The Show will have over 30 celebrities in attendance, including Barbara Eden and Bill Daily (“I Dream of Jeannie”); Tippi Hedren (“The Birds”); Barry Livingston, Stanley Livingston and Tina Cole...

Happy Birthday to Sal Mineo! Let's Revisit His Bumpy, But Beautiful Work
Cute-as-a-button, self-owned homosexual Sal Mineo would've been 74 today, which is pretty young considering the man garnered the first of his two Oscar nominations 57 years ago. Rebel Without a Cause made him a star, and though the actor's career went through ups and downs until his murder in 1976, he's legendary for his sheer talent and unprecedented openness about his sexual orientation. Mineo came out in the late '60s, and that decision wasn't even popular among some of his homosexual contemporaries. (Looking at you, Roddy McDowall.)

As a gay man who cares about film history, I find myself seeking out homosexual stories in the subtexts and subversive moments of old films because none existed in the foreground. Watch Anthony Perkins as a gunshy soldier in Friendly Persuasion. Watch Farley Granger gulp libidinously next to John Dall in Rope. You can't help but discover shards of gayness in these parts, whether they're intentionally presented or not,...

G.I. Blues
Elvis Presley is Tulsa Maclean, a music-loving tank gunner stationed in Germany who dreams of opening a night club with his GI bandmates. To raise the cash, he makes a bet that see him having to lure notoriously frosty local dancer Lili (Juliet Prowse) into a one-night stand. But all bets are off when she blows the hip-swivelling lothario out of his Blue Suede Shoes.

Photo Blast from the Past: Cy Coleman with Bob Fosse and Juliet Prowse
Today, we're featuring Cy Coleman with Bob Fosse and Juliet Prowse in 1981. Fosse won an unprecedented eight Tony Awards for choreography, as well as one for direction. He was nominated for an Academy Award four times, winning for his direction of Cabaret. Amongst his many Broadway credits are The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Pippin, Chicago, Dancin' and many more. Coleman's career as a Broadway composer began when he and Leigh collaborated on Wildcat 1960, which marked the Broadway debut of comedienne Lucille Ball. U's school songs, Hey, Fightin' Tigers. When Ball became ill, she left the show, and it closed. Next for the two was Little Me, with a book by Neil Simon based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Dennis. Prowse starred in such films as including The Fiercest Heart 1961 and Who Killed Teddy Bear 1965 with Sal Mineo and Elaine Stritch.

The 10 Hottest Men of "Project Runway"
Now that we're headlong into an enjoyable season of Project Runway, it's time to play my favorite game: Ranking Years of Hotties. Heidi Klum's sartorial showdown may be a much different show now than when it premiered in 2004 (!), but the series' consistently hot male contestants remain a hallmark. Compare your listings with mine, gents.

10. Wesley Nault

His stay on season five was short-lived (only two episodes), but the unassumingly chic Wesley Nault left a favorable impression using two key items: 1) his underrated tablecloth/cups ensemble from the season-opening Gristedes challenge, and 2) his passion for wearing little shorts. Look at them. They are the littlest. And he is leggier than Juliet Prowse, thank God. After the show, he enjoyed a personal and professional partnership with fellow season five vet Daniel Feld.

9. Jay Sario

The well-scarfed Jay Sario was adorable on season seven, and you better believe I still carry a...

"So You Think You Can Dance" Top 20 Revealed: Our 5 Favorites
Somehow, So You Think You Can Dance's top 20 announcement is always more stressful than American Idol's top 24. It's easy to forget certain dancers, and even if you remember them, you usually can't remember how they danced, or if they were flawless, or if they were just a drooling Alicia Silverstone clone in a man's shirt. I can never remember. Fortunately, our Top 20 is here, and I'm going to make the pain of remembering all of those names/abs easier by picking five elite dancers. Bring on the talent!

(But first, a quick note: How do we feel about Sytycd picking both a male and female winner this year? Good? Crappy? I choose the latter. I just hate settling for a "tied" score. The 1968 Academy Awards' Best Actress category is my living nightmare, much like the above picture of Mia Michaels. She looks like a Hirschfeld rendering of Diane Keaton -- who,...

The 10 Hottest Men in Military Movies
I did my homework on Memorial Day: I thought of real veterans for awhile, let my mind wander over to hot movie veterans, and then ranked the 10 hottest of those for your viewing pleasure. I might be the best American I know. Insert your hilarious "You're a Grand Ole Flag" puns here.

Without further ado, here are my picks for the 10 hottest military gents of cinema. I sort of apologize that the list skews to newer films, but I swear I've selected some (literally) golden oldies too.

10. Josh Hartnett in Black Hawk Down

The doe-eyed hunk prince of 1998-2002 capped off his reign with his most critically acclaimed film, one where he got to fill out fatigues and show us how damn manly he could look.

9. Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Stop Loss

Jgl pulls off the shaved head look like no thespian since the man who ranks at #2 on our list.

“The Voice” Battle Rounds: Do Ya Think I’m Stupid?
The Voice was a bittersweet joyride last night: I lost one of my favorite trillers, but we still have next week to see if my Queen-killing bald balladeer (bald-adeer?) Tony Vincent sails through. Also, some saucy, leggy ladies in fake-leather shorts survived. By default, that’s a triumph for the Lgbt community. Let’s grade the grudge matches!

Sera Hill vs. Geoff McBride, “Chain of Fools”

God, the battle rounds are so weird. And a little unsatisfying, frankly, since the strange tug-of-war between the two competing singers totally robs a song of its normal rhythms and intentions. Weirder yet are the contestant pairings, like the sultry, Estelle-cool Sera Hill and the howling soulman Geoff McBride, who joined forces on “Chain of Fools” for some reason. The argument on paper is the same as the one onstage: Sera has the smaller voice but brings the finger-wag choreography; Geoff has the raspy monster voice,...

Gary (Jason Segel) is loyal to his brother Walter-the two do everything together. "Gary is from Smalltown, USA," says Jason Segel (TV's How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall), a longtime Muppet fan who created the role with himself in mind. "He's very na&#239ve, sweet and innocent, and he's very much in love with his girlfriend Mary. He's torn between his brother and growing into a new phase of maturation where it's time to be with his girlfriend. He's lived with his brother forever so that is his big struggle."

The plot thickens when the trio decides to take a vacation. Says Jason Segel, "The movie starts out with me and my brother Walter, whose wildest fantasy is to meet the Muppets.

New Star to Brighten Our Humdrum Existence
It's like Timmy waving goodbye to Lassie, the heart-welling farewell tossed by Marc Ambinder to his Atlantic colleague Ross Douthat, soon to occupy the op-ed slot at The New York Times stained by the late, yet still irksomely present, William of Kristol. Steadying himself against a railing while the coffee machine refills, Ambinder produces quite a ballad to consecrate this bittersweet moment (via TBogg): It's one step back for the Atlantic, but an order of magnitude forward for the country: my colleagues and I learned today that senior editor Ross Douthat will, in short order, become an opinion columnist for the New York Times. Ross is a late-twenties-year-old public intellectual with the sensibility of a 60-year eminence grise, the range of a Hitchens, the pitch of a conservative Ajp Taylor, the conscience of a Neibuhr and the intellectual honesty of his frequent sparring partner, Andrew Sullivan. Not to mention...
