- L. Fletcher Prouty was born on January 24, 1917 in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. He is known for JFK (1991), The JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes (1992) and World in Action (1963). He died on June 5, 2001.
- Raised in West Springfield, Massachussetts and worked as Director of Special Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under the Kennedy administration.
- A retired military officer, he has written several books and articles covering the JFK conspiracy. It has been said that the character 'Mr. X' in the movie JFK (1991) was based on Prouty.
